Well it’s a very sad day today. I wanted to get some things off my chest. I have been playing WOW since day 1. Bought it on the first day when it came out. To be honest didn’t really like classic…but I loved to level up my character. Something about making it stronger felt cool. I ended up buying all expansions. I have 11 toons and 10 which are at level 120 (now 50). I have put in roughly 330 days of play (approx 8000 hours). I love WOW…but after this level squish I do not want to play anymore. I have worked hard and put in many hours to hit each level, just to have all my characters BACK to level 50! Deja Vu? My character is weaker than classic. Hitting for 2-3k crits!!! OH WOW!! amazing and fun. I feel as though it’s a slap in the face by Blizzard. ‘We want you to build a 120 story building ok’…‘bah…now we gonna tear it all down only to have 50 floors because new people won’t live on anything higher than the 50th floor’. Blizzard you have ruined wow for me so I just wanted to say thanks for all the memories. I have now unsubscribed. Wonder if I can get my money back for Shadowlands since i’ve played less than 1 min of it. I’m sure most people don’t care and i’m only one person and i’m sure wow subscriptions have hit record highs with the level squish and Shadowlands. Thx again Blizzard and i’ll cya in the 5th expansion from now when it’s back up to level 120.
Of all the ridiculous reasons to quit, this is among the top.

Thanks for sharing and have a great time in whatever game you land in.
Haha number go bigggg
Wait number small?
TERRIBLE UNSUBSCRIBE
While I don’t really enjoy Classic, I do miss leveling and feeling stronger. Level scaling screwed that for me. I still grumble daily about it. lol
That’s… not how this works. While I don’t enjoy the level squish and all of the bugs that came with it, your number is still a high level. You aren’t suddenly back to old Vanilla zone levels.
Sometimes you just know before you click on a thread that it is going to be a wall of textual diarrhea
Sneaky Pete can say more than his own name???
This is clearly an imposter.
For me, it’s not an unsub thing. BUT, it’s still hard to see a +3 gain to AGI or INT as something really cool. Spend hard-earned honor to get +1’s and +2’s on a handful of stats when upgrading gear? Eh.
Farewell
Good luck elsewhere.
I’ll never understand the weird attachment people have to numbers.
Good luck explaining to new players that they were going to have to go through 125-130 levels before they got to play the actual game. I’m happy with the level squish. It’s good for newcomers.
There’s an equation for that.
I never liked the idea of the squish either. Its also become very clear that despite claims it would only change numbers players have actually gotten weaker from it.
Okay, we’ll remember you, Stinkypâté or whatever your name was.
I love the squish. Jenga leveling tower go boom.
Hello there!
Nice to meet another “since the beginning” player.
Before you leave, please allow me to put something into context for you…
Level 120. To start a new toon and to level to 120 meant 110 levels of no upgrades on gear, and the psychological fuster cluck of seeing the numbers of levels to go count down… from 120.
Not to mention how broken it was to hit a certain level, then cross over to another expansion, do a few things and, wait… onto the other expansion.
And the other, and the other and so forth.
While Blizz had to option to increase the level cap to 130, honestly think about this. Would you have wanted to, again, level up a toon (that by wearing heirlooms made any feeling of getting loot pointless), and while leveling said toon, you can ignore ALL loot, except for those quest items.
The math was simply not there vs time. Level from 1-110 and “maybe” get a couple grand worth of gold. The entire leveling experience was a waste, and to add 10 more levels on top of that would just be pointless.
By “squishing” this, the game is ultimately reset. This is Classic 2.0. Meaning, new expansions will come out in the 60-70 range, 70-80 range and so forth.
It just made more sense to “re-release” WoW with the 2.0 mentality and have a platform of quality of life changes, new stories and new capabilities (PC hardware is much better than 15 years ago), and give us a better leveling experience and end game content.
With that said, if you still feel the need to unsub, I wish you well. I’m just asking folks to look at this the way I do - WoW 2.0. You fell in love with the original, and we got 15 years out of it. Give this a chance and let’s see where it goes.
Stay safe!
I had an Armalite once. Not an actual Armalite, just a version of what they invented. A good time was had by all.
Sorry to see something so minuscule drive you away.
I see what you did there…
The level squish is the best part about the expansion.
