As a trash player and just casual when it comes to PvP I’ve never cared for stats as in I just tried to get mastery for BM. But now that this expansion provides help like getting our gem slots with honor points (thank you blizzard I’ve done that more this expansion. I’m extremely late getting 80 and now all my gear ( month in the hospital and stroke issues) and might change some gear out now that I continuing playing, does all the conquest gear get you to the desired 30% or do people have to get some pieces that are pve to get there?
no PVE pieces needed, the simple blood token gear from world PVP is almost entirely haste and will get you to 20% or so. Craft some pieces with haste/vers and you’re good to go
Murlok io shows you want about 16% base haste/vers before the scaling up.
Haste is better than mastery for BM for a couple reasons. BM is overall an APM spec, and haste is just generally always better for APM specs. You’re putting black arrow on cooldown, casting kill command to fish for BA procs, and casting barbed to fish for KC resets (to use for more BA proc fishing) and to keep frenzy stacks up. Haste also impacts the swing speed of your pets, and the majority of actual pet damage is going to be coming from dire beast and it’s related procs (fenryr, hati, dark hounds). So dropping mastery for haste still isn’t a linear loss in pet damage, despite mastery being +pet damage. You’re just losing an insignificant amount of KC damage by playing big haste. Everything else works way better because you have faster globals, more CDR, and get to perform more actions per minute.
Before the BM/DR rework pvp stacked mastery/vers
It wasn’t until the rework that people swapped to haste.
Yes, because this dark ranger didn’t exist, and other talents weren’t changed yet. BM wanted to use bloodshed for big KC dam with old dark ranger. Also, using high mastery enabled you to play both specs at the time. Haste is just flat out better in every way for BM now.
Echoing most of the previous responses, haste is definitely your best stat, assuming you’re already at the twenty percent versatility threshold. Mastery is still very important however, and eventually outweighs the value of stacking additional haste once you start to hit diminishing returns . I would recommend starting to prioritize mastery after you get your haste up to around twenty percent (scaled value). If you need a reference for how best to itemize your conquest gear, check murlok .io and look at what the top players are running.
Side note: If you want to check your scaled stat weights outside of arena/bgs just open your character window and hit the PvP target dummy. The stats will adjust.
Yeah. Just copy any of the hunters at the top of the ladder. Haste/vers with a side of mastery is pretty easy to achieve. I’m at the point where swapping out a ring and neck makes the appropriate stats for marks or BM. All three of them being mastery is 2/3:1/3 mastery:haste with enough vers. Two being haste is 2/3:1/3 haste:mastery with the same amount of vers. Pretty sure you want a similar stat breakout as SV to BM as well.
