Has WoW always been soulless?

This is a “have you stopped beating your wife yet” caliber of loaded question.

I’m enjoying/playing the game, and post here while I’m on a flight path or waiting 10 min for my command table mission to finish etc

Somebody somewhere at their headquarters just ticketed that “I won another one box”

When I saw some of the horrible implementation of systems this game receives then compare those with the systems that worked yet removed. I can only think of the reason being that someone made a bet on how many players can they upset today.

To be fair though, each expansion since WotLK has mostly also brought about some degradation of the current game.

I think MoP and Legion are two different exceptions, MoP had great gameplay and decent story (except probably Garrosh arc) but was disliked by many just for “pandas” and “china”, whilst Legion gameplay was horrible (for 70% of the duration) but had a really good story that people loved and carried it through.

But other than those there is quite a clear decline from WotLK > Cata > WoD > BfA.
People can also expand that from Vanilla through to WotLK as many people were in the camp that WoW was being made too casual to the detriment of the game both in TBC, and furthermore in WotLK.

Maybe they were bitter that we rejected their anti-flying dreams of expansions filled with terrible terrain.
