Has the MVP program outlived its usefulness?

I remember when this community was much bigger, the forums were way more active and had many more moving parts. Numerous sub forums, open-for-all realm forums, so on. Back then, the MVP program - especially for General Discussion - was very valuable.

MVPs were knowledgeable, professional, helpful, and really lived up to the Most Valuable Player role. They helped new, and seasoned players alike, and were quick to offer solutions, fair feedback, and sometimes-much-needed humour!

MVP presence is greatly reduced nowadays, to the point where I rarely have interactions with them. When I have had interactions, specifically and solely in forums like Customer Service, Tech Support, or UI/Interface, they have lived up to MVP status. My one criticism would be that there is not enough of them - but that makes sense given the game's dwindling community compared to the past.

I have nothing to say about most MVPs elsewhere, however. While their presence is apparent, I have to yet to see "Most Valuable" in any iteration.

What are YOUR thoughts GD? Has the MVP program outlived its usefulness?

If you were to just look at these two quotes would you see how petty you sound? Just because in your opinion some of them are not valuable you want to deprive everyone of the usefulness of some?

To answer your question- no. I do not think the program has outlived its usefulness. But more importantly, its not up to us to make that decision.
So you only have issues with the MVP posters on GD..where they most likely disagree with you on things?

Got it.

In that case, we only have one option. Shut it down.
To the gulags with them!
I don't find it very useful.

mmm buzzwords.
When WOW is back on its upswing they are useful but obviously with a lul in content they cant offer much more.
"The MVP is immunized against all dangers: one may call him a scoundrel, parasite, swindler, profiteer, it all runs off him like water off a rain coat.

But call him a shill and you will be astonished at how he recoils, how injured he is, how he suddenly shrinks back. 'I've been found'"

I really haven't seen a useful purpose for any except the tech support ones for years and years now. However, I think MvPs are the CMs feel good project so I doubt they will go away.

Some are able to be more impartial than others.

They still are.

Can I report for jealousy?
For you, green is not your color.

The system's fine.
It's almost like they hand out green text to anyone these days. There is no way they didn't give green text to their friends with this last batch, some of them are horrible and absolutely useless.

Theres that and... This "shills" nonsense needs to stop.

Shill is the buzzword of the Year used by people who can't cope with someone having an opinion that differs from their own. "If someone doesn't see it my way they must be shilling for (insert name or company here). It's sad and ridiculous.

Thank you for the perfect example.

given the game's dwindling community compared to the past.

So is the game dying, OP?
Obligatory "No more MVPs" post for the week.
It doesn't make sense to me to slam someone because they like to help others. Although unpaid, if they get a title and can use this on a resume, great.

Idk why some want to limit opportunities for others.
