Hey all. So I know Colossus is the hotness right now. But since I’m a fairly new prot warrior, I was wondering if it’s a “bad” idea to go Thane for keys. I plan to aim for 8-10s, nothing beyond that.
It’s just like almost every single prot I see is Colossus. I don’t mind the playstyle, it’s fun having massive demolish hits on big groups. But I also find MT appealing. I just don’t know the class well enough to understand if going MT would be gimping myself , other than a dps loss?
Everyone is running Colossus because the the interaction with the talent immovable object and the tier set is mega strong. It isn’t that thane is bad it’s that when you take immovable object you lose unstoppable force which has better interaction with mountain thane. I haven’t tested it much yet but I imagine thane is still fine just not as much interaction and therefore lower dps.
I tank as MT and it feels just fine. I did the whole raid on normal last night, will get some heroic bosses down today.
Yeah I mean there is no reason thane wouldn’t be good. It has really only been buffed since last season. I haven’t actually gotten the tier on my war yet. Are you just running unstoppable force still?
I don’t find Mountain Thane much squishier for now, but Colossus deals substantially more DPS. I hope Mountain Thane can at least have better DPS to make it less of a “wrong choice.”
everyone had a kneejerk reaction to a nerf and jumped ship on a less than 5% dps difference.
typical Tuesday for warriors.
People play colossus for more AoE dps, passively tankier, and one extra def cd from immovable object. But if you aim 8-10 then you won’t feel the difference between those 2.
I use mountain thane and I think it’s just fine, amidst the neverending random prot nerfs who cares what hero spec you pick? Just use whichever tickles your fancy.
It’s a blessing in disguise. If you took them together we wouldn’t be here anymore.
