I have been reading the forums and one thing I take away is that many in the community expect classic to become Burning Crusade. Has this actually been confirmed by Blizzard?
I personally have concluded that rereleasing up to Lich King wouldn’t be bad. It would be enjoyable. Of course it would have to be on a staggered timeline compared to the original release schedule.
no, blizzard isn’t one to drop their aces early. that being said… whenever it is, it’s still a heck of a long time off. i’d consider looking forward to nax.
I don’t know, but I don’t want to believe something to be true then find out it isn’t.So I’m not going to believe that its true until Blizzard announces the official release of it at Blizzcon.
I think it’ll be enjoyable. People may forget the outland but it did compliment the game well. It really expanded it truly instead of radically change it imo.
Between the massive financial success of classic and the survey they released in the past its very safe to expect BC to come out some time after Naxx. Blizzard would have to be run by literal morons to ignore that kind of money.
Probably wont be announced until Naxx has been out for a while so the raiding scene doesnt die.
When they put out a poll, it asked whether players were interested in it. There was an option to select “not interested in TBC.”
It’s definitely on the table as a possibility, but Blizzard is likely taking the more cautious route of waiting to see how Classic pans out after naxx has been out for a while before they make their next move.
The fact they haven’t just outright confirmed TBC makes me suspect there’s a significant number of players that just aren’t interested in TBC. If it was overwhelming, they’d have no reason to hide the announcement.
Late summer/early fall of 2021 is where I’d place it. I doubt they want to make the same mistake with vanilla naxx, having it out for all of a couple months and no one caring about it because TBC is right around the corner.
It’s not coming out before fall 2022. It’s going to be filler content between shadowlands and the next retail expansion in 2023 or 2024. They’re going to want to let TBC simmer. They aren’t going to want to have it follow right up on classic.
First of all, Blizz has been following an accelerated Vanilla schedule (where the longer gaps are cut short), not a delayed one. Originally, Naxx was out 5 months after AQ, and BC was out 7 months after Naxx. If they followed the same schedule, we’d see a Fall 2021 release.
Secondly, there’s no reason to believe that most classic players also play modern retail. And there’s no reason to believe that the bulk of classic players would play retail in the absence of new Vanilla content. They’re just as likely to go play Overwatch or Fortnite.
Third, it would be ridiculous to think that Blizz will hold off for a year and a half on releasing a game that they completed over a decade ago, as classic hemorrhages players. Most people will be done with Naxx 3-4 months after its release (which will be sometime between November and Janurary). And they’ll be done with their alts 1-2 months after that. For customer retention reasons, they’ll most likely release BC between May and July.
If players are bailing en masse much earlier, they’ll probably release BC sooner. Many people might choose to clear Naxx only a handful of times, rather than gear themselves up in full Naxx gear, knowing that any gear they get will be only marginally useful for leveling in BC and will be replaced by gear from 5 man dungeons in a couple of months. If we get Naxx in November and players are dropping off by Jan-Feb, Blizz will probably release BC in March-April.
Nope its just assumed. But based off feedback from shadowlands, lol, it shouldn’t be to far afterwards. Shadowlands looks like they merged creative teams for D4 and retail together, lol.
I was SO HAPPY to get something close to Vanilla back, and I played it how I always wanted to if it came back - slowwwwly, taking time to smell the roses. I have been in no hurry to raid – I enjoyed a period of PVP ranking – safe in the knowledge that Vanilla would be here forever.
When it started to become clear that BC, which I wouldn’t mind visiting – but definitely do not want to stay in – was going to either split the community or replace Classic, it was a bit depressing. BC forever or WOTLK forever are things that I am not particularly interested in.
It has taken me a few months to feel like playing again because it’s sad that everyone is clamouring for us to rush rush rush into BC again. I feel like my time on Vanilla Classic is flying past, and I don’t want it to go away.
you are having an existential crisis and worrying over nothing. if BC comes, there will surely still be a few realms that will play classic forever. if everyone just migrates to those realms, well there you go, you got your permanent classic realm.
I do not see TBC being released anytime soon. It would destroy the sales of the shadowlands expansion. Depends how they deploy TBC from copy and character or transitioning classic servers to TBC could make or break classic
Naxx is assuredly coming out in November, a full month after Shadowlands. They’ll announce BC for Q2 2021 shortly after, maybe in December, but not provide a date. If players are sticking around after Naxx and Blizz isn’t losing subs, they’ll allow Naxx to run its full course, allowing for a late June release. An announcement in this case would come in late April or early May. If they are losing subs, they may release TBC as early as April. In this case, they’d announce as soon as they’ve made the decision internally, probably in March.
Whatever Blizz ends up doing will allow players to continue their current character’s progress, which includes items and gold obtained, on whichever version of the game they choose, and hopefully allow for some form of continuation on both. They’ll have to do something about hyperinflation due to botting, so we’ll see what happens there.
During a Dev interview long ago, they pretty much verbatim that they could easily just use the classic engine and throw all the tbc crap into it. Im surprised no one has mentioned this, people should listen to people when they speak more often.
I wonder how many people see vanilla the same way you see BC and Wrath. I don’t want any of them forever. Not even private server players wanted vanilla forever. They wanted vanilla reset over and over again so they could play it repeatedly from level 1.
I’m in no rush for BC but in about a year I’ll be done with vanilla forever. If BC doesn’t come out I’ll be done with wow forever.
