Has anyone successfully defend Wintergrasp

Every game I enter, defense always loses

yep, won 2/4 WG tonight, defended all 4 times. you need more defense than offense here, only 10-15 people should go south, everyone else stay around the fortress to defend and attack their shops if your offense is good.

Nope, probably going to just start /afk’ing until I get on offense.

No. What happens in the games I play are Horde will zerg Sunken Ring and Alliance split into groups spreading out across the map. Chat is filled with people asking what to do or how to build sieges. Horde will get sieges going and break down the wall while Alliance are still asking what to do.

I haven’t been on attack with Alliance so I can’t compare but it seems a lot of players don’t remember or weren’t playing during Wrath.

Important clarification.

i have been healing my friends in a grp of 5 and won 6 wintergrasp games tonight. which makes sense, because we’re all gods amongst men. the alliance stands no chance.

I saw horde defend it very successfully once. You would think alliance could watch and learn for their turn.

One thing you need to defend wintergrasp is a few players watching enemy movements. By the time you realize they are attacking the fortress, it may already be too late to salvage the battle.

Do Saronite bombs still work?

I’ve done it 3x so far. All three put Horde on offense (unsure if it’s random or preset a c rotating)

The first game the defense absolutely stomped all over our offense, just a complete blowout loss. Where we only managed a single gate kill.

The second game was evenly balanced, and we managed to win begot the end, but overall a good fight.

Final game was a roughly 10 minute win, where we seemingly just rolled over the Alliance.

I feel like defense should have the advantage, but you need aggressive base defense and a hit squad of 10-20 constantly taking bases from the horde to keep their tank population lower and manageable for the base defenders. The team that beat us was constantly contesting work shops, and swarming like angry bees on what few tanks we could get out. I’d add, that contesting the southern bases constantly also forced us to pull a number of people off the front, and as such not protecting our tanks.

It seems to be just Ally losing.

No surprise.
