are generally a single continent? Not since Greenland and Iceland have we experienced such cartographic flimflam.
Maybe it was an archipelago 10,000 years ago and they’ve since bumped into each other and fused. And the dragons just called it the Dragon Isles out of habit.
That’s how islands work right? They’re just floating in the ocean?
Wait wait wait…then wouldn’t that make it The Dragon Isle? Just one? Because it’s just one big island?
There’s the main island, which contains the 4 zones we’re working in. Then there’s the Forbidden Reach that you can visit when making a Drakthyr, but I don’t recommend trying to get to otherwise… And then there are a couple smaller islands off the west coast of the Ohn’ahran Plains. So, they’re still “The Dragon Isles” but we’re pretty much limited to the main island only at this point in time.
Is that the Island where you just get zapped by lightning? Because I was out exploring and wound up in a not great spot.
Yes indeed! I tried to fly out there and realized it was a very bad idea™ almost instantly, lol.
Yeah, at first I was like “this aint so bad” on the turn around I died.
It’s really more of a peninsula.
It should also be rotated 180 degrees.
It’s basically Australia.
I noticed that its roughy 1/4 the size of Shadowlands, 1/4 the size of BfA, 1/4 the size of Draenor, smaller than Pandaria, 1/3 the size of Kalimdor, 1/2 the size of Northrend, and 1/5 the size of Outland. Yes, its much smaller than all the other expansions - which makes me wonder if they will reveal more land mass for the Dragon Isles at a latter date?
There’s still a lot more to come. Throughout the next year (2023), they’ll be releasing at least 2 new zones and new raids.
The Dragon Isles are a fictional location in the World of Warcraft universe and do not correspond to any real-world geography. The in-game maps and descriptions of the Dragon Isles do not necessarily follow the same rules or conventions as real-world maps and geography. As such, it is not accurate to compare the Dragon Isles to real-world locations such as Greenland or Iceland.
In World of Warcraft, the Dragon Isles are described as a group of islands located in the Great Sea, southeast of the Maelstrom. The islands are home to various dragonflights, including the Red Dragonflight, the Green Dragonflight, and the Blue Dragonflight. They are also home to other creatures such as krakens, sea giants, and naga. The Dragon Isles have played a significant role in the game’s lore, and have been featured in various quests and storylines throughout the game’s history. However, they are not meant to be taken as an accurate representation of real-world geography.
there’s teh forbidden reach in the north. and the few splinters to the west.
There is a chance we’ll visit other isles in the content patches, but yes there is a main isle then a bunch of others around it thus why it’s the dragon isles. Lot of potential here and I hope Blizz doesn’t screw up along the way like they did with Shadowlands
Southeast? That may be inaccurate since it seems to be between EK and Northrend.
They’ll likely add more islands with each patch like they did with MoP.
People reacted negatively to the disconnected islands of Shadowlands, which you had to access through an odd, time-wasting animation. They wanted to do something different.
Wait a point release or two.
There are islands off the coast. We just can’t access them. The Forbidden Reach is one of the Dragon Isles.
