I sure have, I have a Radeon 550 series red dragon (windows 10 pro) I used to be able to play for hours and now I am limited to 30 minutes without pulling my pc’s case off and having a fan blow into the computer. I can play more modern games just fine (Witcher 3 and the isles) and it’s only modern WoW that is doing it. I have put my settings to the lowest with no luck.
I cleaned my junk folders, allowed my antivirus to scan my computer, made sure everything was up to date (windows update, AMD, etc), uninstalled and reinstalled wow and told the WoW launcher to scan and repair (it found nothing) This only started during and after the DDoS just to give you a time frame. Yes the card’s fan works.
I would try the technical support forums, but this sounds more like an issue on your end.
That said, they are much much better at deep diving things like this, or knowing possible solutions etc over there.

Welcome! We’re here now!
Overheating isn’t really a situation that can be caused by the game of itself. Depending on your settings, the game may run your PC harder or less hard, but managing heat is something your PC’s heat sinks, drivers, and windows are responsible for. Let’s get some info on what your PC is actually doing when things start performing poorly. If you do find overheating, you’ll need a PC tech for that, but I want to have a backup plan in case it’s not actually overheating after all.
Grab hwmonitor and play the game until you start having your poor performance. Once it happens, give it about 10 minutes of play, then check the “max” column of your test for CPU/GPU overheating. If those are getting too hot, clean the PC and take it to a PC tech if that doesn’t fix the overheating - that’d probably mean some of the heat hardware needs maintenance or replacement.
If you don’t see anything, let’s snag some screenshots:
- Maximize the HWMonitor window and expand all the nodes on the left
- Scroll all the way up
- Take a screenshot with the Print Screen (prtscn) key
- Open up the program Paint and press ctrl+v to paste in the test
- Crop the screen if you want to only show the test, then save it as Test1.JPG
- Scroll all the way down, then repeat steps 3-5.
- Upload them somewhere like imgur and link us to the results. We’ll use those to look for more options.
If you have link errors, copy the code below, then copy/paste your link between two ` marks, it’ll break the link and let you post it. You can just copy paste everything in the box below and replace “Link goes here” with your link.

No I haven’t yet, even after the aforementioned DDoS attack. RX 5700 running cool at 68C max. GTX 1080 Ti running 65C max. I’m at 1440P max so all the load is on the GPU.
You mentioned your RX 550 fans are working fine. How’s the case fans? are they pulling in good airflow for the card? Drak’s mentioned HWinfo will give us the measured temps and we’ll be able to see if it’s software or hardware.
