Has anyone at all beaten Torghast Upper Reaches Layer 8?

I got to the second floor and that was GG, the mini boss just wrecked face.

I tried layer 7 tonight…got to the 4th floor and got wrecked by the floor…as Vengence…who knows what he’s doing with the spec. Could be bad powers, could be I’m tired from being up for 21 hours

Torgast currently is less of a skill check and more of a gear check combined with luck. And I can’t say I really enjoy that.

Everything ive read suggestd blizzard is artifically increasing the difficulty in order to drag the time to complete it out… aka gear check. Or time spent subbing overall because of time gates.

Im already on a class that struggles and from what ive seen it is literally impossible now.

Literally the same exact thing for me, solod fracture chambers layer 8 and layer 8 of upper reaches I just get shafted on floor two. The end of floor boss had 356k hp for me. Ridiculous.

Definitely more luck, I have 203 ilvl and I can’t do upper reaches layer 8.

i can survive a 500k hp boss, but not that aculumulative damage buff…

I was borderline able to beat layer 7, by the time I beat the final boss, he was at about 25 stacks of the stacking debuff. Its out of control

That’s the main issue, that stacking buff just makes sure you have to push enough DPS or fail and unless you get those dumbass powers it will never happen.

got to floor 5 and was met by the empowered mawsworn intercepter at the end who likes to lob something called critical shot every 8 seconds or so which deals 97% of my 45k health pool at 0 stacks, ignores armor by default according to its tooltip and is not consistantly avoidable(can be los’d but if the boss disengages into the middle of the hallway which he does regularly there is nothing to los
with).

so here’s where i’m at with this my weakest point has been amplified immensely by the health of everything(tank st is poop) my greatest strength(phys dmg mitigation) is now a weakness courtesy of tuesdays asinine change, and in some cases to the extreme(such as abilities that outright ignore armor to begin with), outgearing it even in full mythic nathria gear will not be possible, counter play is not really possible so what’s left?

Just beat it earlier on my moonkin duoing with my hubby playing a BM hunter.

I think this is the only answer, 2 DPS, one of them having a pet to tank.

Cleared the first portal on 8. Got the boss that enrages when you move. I am a prot pala so i barely had enough cds to stand in the purple crap a few times, bop ect.

We also did it with my MW monk and his BrM monk. Tbh… it’s pretty brutal on layer 8 so yeah I’d definitely recommend going in with good synergy. I don’t know how bad the scaling is in solo but duo feels like a good sweet spot to me. I’ve heard that doing it in big groups has some real scaling issues.

Edit: I will say, though, that while the pet was helpful… they ripped the poor thing to shreds so fast.

I tried with druid and rogue, both over 190 iLVL, all the way through all the wings and all the layers, the floors, everything was easy, even this week the other wing is easy, but we done Upper Reaches and nothing, we just fell over.

CCs were the deciding factor in success for sure in Upper Reaches. With the empowered mobs… you have to really manage the CCs heavily.

Layer 8’s a right B… but doable. Duo’d it, 161 BM hunt and 174 boomy. (like Saichoses said.) XD

Also did it with a 175 BrM and MW monk duo.

Caster bosses require constant CC, int, and damage. Juggle your CC and ints, let them get off some casts then int, some casts then CC and burst while incap’d. Though tank/heal combo really required constant pushing.

Only time I’ve had to use about the entirety of my classes’ toolkits just to scrape by.

Hunter pets are taking drastically less damage from the special mobs than players is why. I am sure they will patch that soon

i can’t even do six anymore unless i get literally bis powers

Nah, pets are getting rekt thoroughly actually.

Pets take heavily reduced AOE damage. Some of heavy hitting skills from these bosses are AOE. But a good deal aren’t. At least there are powers for that.

You have no idea how much my poor Wooly had to be revived. (Clefthoof is one of the best tanking pets.)

What we did to succeed outside of the CC’s we mentioned… we stacked a whole bunch of damage resistance stuff. Like… I took the one that makes moonfire make mobs do less dmg… he took things like tar trap reducing damage as well as disengage reducing damage… we both had some health buffs and the rest we focused into whatever damage powers we could get our hands on.

Got some fairly solid ones… definitely not the best power haul… but not bad.
