Has Alleria started to worship Elune in TWW?

I know there’s almost no indication that these characters have anything in common, but Alleria’s new outfit screams Priestess of the Moon to me.

This is not the outfit of the Void elves who always dress in gold and purple.

It is not the outfit of the Silver Covenant, their clothes always maintain a bright blue colors.

It is certainly not the style of the Church of the Holy Light.

White robes and silver armor have always been characteristic for Sisterhood of Elune. Her new purple tattoos and even blue jewelry reminds me of the old Tyrande model. When we put Night Warrior and Alleria’s new look side by side, they look like they belong to the same order.

From the lore side it makes a lot of sense too. Perhaps Alleria seeks help in Elune. In the trailer she talks about the intensifying dark visions in her head, so it would be logical if she turned to Tyrande wisdom, as she has fought the Void forces many times. First in the War of the shifting Sands, then twice in Emerald Nightmare where she was the one of the few mortals who resist Void control, something Alleria desperately needs right now. Funnily enough, Elune was far more active to fought the Void forces than any forces of Light. The first Night Warrior defeated Old God on another planet, Xal’atath seems to hold a particular dislike for Elune so is it possible that Alleria would form an alliance with Elune to hunt Xal’atath together?

Highly doubtful, to be honest.

Blizzard has commonly stuck to similar design themes, particularly with elven characters. Her new digs scream more ‘Quel’dorei with a Ren’dorei twist’ than they do ‘Elune worshipper’ to me. Silver, white and blue has always been the High Elven color scheme.

It’s not TOTALLY far fetched since we’re moving into more Light/Shadow themed content but while I’m a fan of Elune-based lore, I think it’s best that it stays in the realm of the Kaldorei. After the whole saga of Teldrassil, I’ll be glad to move onto different content for the time being and seeing other facets of the Light/Void dynamic.

I think it’s more likely that the Void Lords are none too happy with what Xala’atath is doing as it could mess up their plans of Azeroth and they subtly convinced Alleria to go hunt her down so the voids bigger plans can be put into motion down the line.

But that’s my take on it.

I’ve never understand why Elune was only attached to night elves. I get it she’s his main diety but The Light has followers in humans, dwarves, Draenei, blood elves, and many other races who used holy light. Outside of the NE, only the Taurens worship Elune more. Even though she is much more connected to Azeroth than Light, but Light is still much more worshiped. Besides, seeing Elune through the eyes of other races would be a nice, refreshing change. Witch I think could make her more intresting just like humans see light different than Draenei. for example Tauren did a great job making Elune lore more vast and mysterious.

I don’t think people are tired of Elune herself, she is one of the last interesting aspects of the lore. people are tired of terrible writing The Teldrassil saga is a failure in every aspect, but luckily we’re over it now.

writers can finally distance themselves from problematic topics and write good stories with a fresh approach

I don’t entirely disagree. I personally like to see other racial groups recognizing deities because it gives some credence to the importance of that divine presence across Azeroth. Like you mentioned with the Light being somewhat universal (albeit heavily Alliance coded), we do see examples of Elune worship with the Tauren and the Zandalari (to the lesser extent) but she seems more tied to Druidic/Life leaning races moreso than specifically ‘Light’ these days.

The reason I think they need to keep Elune lore contained to the Kaldorei (with the exception of outliers worshipping her to a smaller degree) is because it’s highly alienating to Horde players who already have to play in a largely Alliance heavy story and Blizzard is honestly incapable of creating a ‘faith’ that feels universal at this point. It’s also widely disliked by Horde players to have to share in the same “neutral” lore, because the themes almost always skew in favor of Alliance ones. (See the Legion order halls for example.)

My point being, as much I’d love to see cross-factional faiths and different racial interpretations of that faith, Blizzard has been proven incapable of doing that without making it feel homogenous.

Elune’s light reaches its ZENITH!!

It’s actually Tyrande herself is the oddball, She dresses more like the old High Elf MagePriest models from Warcraft than a night elf. Blue is definitely a major High Elf color.

Alleria’s new aesthetic is sort of a marriage between her High Elven past, and her Void Elf present. She’s shed her old colors as the former Ranger-Captain of Quel’thalas and is now embracing her status as the leader of the Void Elves.

Personally, I find it highly unlikely that any Void Elf would form a relationship with Elune.

It’s also baffling that Night Elves don’t despise Void Elves, considering how devastating the void has been to Elune’s “favored children” in Val’sharah through the spread of the Nightmare, and the corruption of Ysera that resulted in her death.

Wait, wouldn’t Alleria follow a similar story to Tyrande in Shadowlands? :crystal_ball::robot:

Xal’atath has a Moon Symbol on her face.

She is also an Eye who calls Elune an upstart “goddess” who is a great enemy so if she is Mu’sha or a child of Mu’sha planning on merging the Void-Titan of Telogrus with Mu’sha’s Soul than Alleria would benefit from gaining the backing of Mu’sha’s archenemy Elune.

Elune Goddess of the Moon vs Mu’sha the Void God-Titan of the Moon.

As for whether or not we have already seen Mu’sha if she isn’t Xal’atath herself(whom I honestly suspect is the original Blue Child whose disappearance caused Mu’sha’s rampage that was stopped by Elune and the current Blue Child initiating the Embrace): There is a Sha in her name which is also the word for Light and the Light of Lights calls herself Azshara.

I therefore deem that Azshara is Mu’sha archenemy of Elune and made her pact with Sargeras in hopes of absorbing Argus to become a Fel-Death-God-Titan to oppose Elune. She instead becomes a Void-Death-God Titan(Void-Death-Light-Order) because of Sargeras’s failure.

Her next order of business upon her ascension to Titan-Godhood(making her stronger than the Void Lords to the point where she can pound them into submission) is to corrupt her brother An’she who is situated above Hallowfall. The Black Sun An’she will be The War Within’s Big Bad followed by Mu’sha in Midnight.

Xal’atath has such a scathing option of Elune likely because how late in its history her attention turned towards Azeroth, and that she sided with the Titans against the Void (or at least with Eonar).

I seriously doubt Alleria has ties to Elune. I think it is actually meant to contrast with the new outfit Xal’atath has going on. Black and Gold vs White and Silver. Kind of a yin-yang vibe.

these are probably much better explanations. What amuses me is that the attempt to combine the high elves and void elves aesthetics they accidentally (or not?) turned Alleria into another night warrior

Her eyes look like the lunar eclipse we see over the darkshore, moon tattoo, the blade in which she was imprisoned looks like a crescent moon. From the model itself we already can see that she has huge connections with the moon (it’s literally written on her face. Get it? On her face :DDD ) but we don’t see the night elves anywhere, so I assume that another character will simply investigate this clues. that’s why I bet on Alleria.

To me, she looks even more like “generic elf archer” than before. I honestly couldn’t tell the difference between her and Vereesa or any other Silver Covenant elf now.

I would agree with the general idea that non-Night Elves get to be able to worship Elune, and other elves being among them would make sense.

Alleria doesn’t strike me as someone who would go for something like that though. There has been some discussion before about specifically the Nightborne, as they aren’t as separated from their past as Night Elves as the Thalassians are, I would like to think this makes sense.

I also think it’s near indisputable that the Lun’alai worship Elune by a different name. I think it’s fine to continue along this path, and that it doesn’t water down Night Elf lore as it does reflect real life religions being a bit messy and not 1 to 1 with a specific group or a specific set of beliefs.

I know I’m necroing this thread. I think this topic has a lot of potential and I was late to the party.

When Legion revealed Elune made the Naaru and Shadowlands confirmed that Elune is worshipped across different planets, it makes complete sense that anyone could worship her. Why her only worshippers on Azeroth so far appear to be Night Elves is a plot hole created by future lore imo.

Not if she doesn’t take up the Night Warrior mantle, though Alleria struggling with the Void and needing help to deal with it is good story fodder (and similar to how Grom drank Mannoroth’s blood in Warcraft 3 and needed to be cleansed of that).

Alleria’s void corruption already felt similar to Tyrande’s. Even the rumors about Alleria taking Anduin to the Nerubain empire might feel similar to Tyrande in Torghast-- i’m probably worried about dumb stuff. :robot::thought_balloon:

I think there is some dialogue that states that Tyrande still has access to the night warrior powers because of amirdrassil, so i dont think alleria is taking the mantle, unless she transfers it in some fashion.

Back in in SL she confirmed she had her powers still but had overcome the ‘suicide pact with god’ part of it by willingly abandoning her revenge. They do seem to be dormant, though.

Who knows what happen if she tried to access them again.

Probably this plays alongside it.

I really hope that Harronir will start to fix this problem. If a race that can be a link between dark trolls and night elves, living under the giant crystal of Na’ru and (probably) the roots of Elun’ahir, gonna only worship Light or another unimportant wild god, I lost it. :dracthyr_tea:

I can’t wait when at the start of exspansion Alleria completly gone, to appear halfway through the story, and finally fights Xal’atath, but at the last moment, before she deals the final blow, the void powers leave her and Xal’atath run away with a smile on her face.

Just imagine the dialouges:

Xal’atath - Come, then. Show me the Void’s Wrath
Alleria - Void gave me The Strength. The Wrath is mine alone!
