This man speaks the truth. It’s no mistake that once Belfs and Draenei were added, even Blizzard would post fan art of them in Judgement. It’s THE pally set, and I question whether you can even call yourself a paladin without it in your wardrobe.
Most recently I tried shadow priest for their tier in S2. It was an OK spec, I had decent fun but I’m not as good at it as I am with others. It was a strong, in demand spec though so that was nice.
Previously I’ve levelled and geared up alts for mop challenges (pally, rogue, warrior) and legion mage towers (I did like 20 specs? Including all tanks)
All my characters have all the outfits I want for them already, and I’m not particularly stylish to begin with, so for me it is about the set bonus rather than the transmogrification. My “main” character was a holy priest (not this forum gnome) in the first half of the season and I like that set bonus a lot. It was part of the decision when picking them.
You wanna talk about crappy tier sets? Let’s examine the warrior one for a moment. Part of the reason why I am switching classes. Love my warrior but the tier set is garbage.
Bloodfang was the best vanilla looking set and so I rolled rogue. I found I hate rogue and never even got the set. Priest T2, Mage T3, and Hunter Arena season 1. All had me wanting to reroll because they looked so good.
About that time however I found out you could “Transmog” (client side only) by changing the game files, just change the item’s hex code from its current item ID to that of what you want to see and create a patch. This got me into modding and I found a mod called Druids of Azeroth. I used that and played druid exclusively until they disabled modding in the cata prepatch.
With the introduction of transmog I was once again limited by Blizz art and restricted to what a class could wear. No more druids in Bloodfang. The original druid forms were so bad that I quit druid and only picked it up again in this last patch.
Since then I limited myself to a few specs (mostly tanking and BM hunter and very rarely fury warrior.)
I find I have to change specs about once a patch due to boredom and one of the big draws is the new sets. Although with transmog available I have the looks down that I want for each spec I play so I look to what the new tier does and if it will be fun to play.
For instance Prot warrior going into 10.2 looks more fun than Bear but bear 10.1 was far more fun than Prot warriors odd reliance on Last stand.
Sorry I meandered my way through the history of transmog but it got me nostalgic for the old druid forms we could play in BC.
