I’m redoing one of my character’s profiles. My Worgen Druid, Ocenell, has been a split personality type for about a year, but I’ve felt displeased with him as a whole the entire time and realized I wanted to focus more on his Druidism. I intend to rewrite his character (while retaining some aspects of the former).
I saw a small snippet somewhere a long time ago about Harvest Witches and have been trying to dig up as much as I can about them. Unfortunately I can find few mentions about them in Gilnean culture and the NPC Celestine of the Harvest.
Anyone who could share any and all lore they know about them would be greatly appreciated. Is there any form of in-game quest that might involve/mention them too?
I also found only one source mentioning the males were called Harvest Warlocks or Harvest Watchers and, though I’m fine with Ocenell being called a Harvest Witch, if anyone can confirm this or if there are any in-game (or out of game) examples of male Harvest Witches anywhere that would be nice to know too. This is mostly just for knowhow, I’m fully intending to go with Harvest Witch.
A cursory search of ‘Harvest Witch’ on the Warcraft Wiki makes no mention of the term ‘Harvest Warlock.’ Searching it on its own gave me nothing and searching ‘Harvest Watcher’ brought up a page on a named Harvest Golem. The page also mentions Birch Tomlin as a Harvest Witch and speculates Marl Wormthorn was one as well. I’d think its safe to assume many Worgen Druids specifically from Gilneas are likely also Harvest Witches, though that admittedly is an assumption.
Apparently, their group originated from ancient tribal culture. They used to aid in Gilneas’ agriculture after its isolation and once helped turn a famine.
Thank you very much, the time you took to do this is very well acknowledged and appreciated. I hadn’t any time recently to do a more thorough search until today, so I’ll follow up on what you’ve linked and do my own cursory search.
Do you have a preference of them being called one thing or the other? If you had wanted him to go by Harvest Witch you may not need any proof at all considering that the term in RL can be applied to male or female anyways.
All of my characters; regardless of gender, are witches. ^^
