For mythic dungeons is templar or harold better for ret
Templar is simming better for both aoe and st atm.
Im not sure how close it is though.
Harold goes hard after a couple rum and cokes.

I’ve seen this discussion pop up a couple times now. I think it really comes down to your playstyle between Templar and Harald. The name of the game with Templar is lining up your Hammers of Light with your Execution Sentence window and pumping massive burst while sustaining your Shake the Heavens buff with your generators.
Harald is similar, but more straightforward. You get a massive haste buff and a guaranteed proc of Divine Purpose which incentivizes you to just slam back-to-back HP spenders while positioning your tethers in AoE for maximum throughput. Dawnlight as a DoT is a set it and forget it mechanic, as you will naturally extend the duration of it well up to a minute in ST.
Initially, I struggled to get much mileage out of Templar when I first gave it another shot after the recent buffs, as I also consistently found myself losing tons of DPS. But after shifting my priority in how I play, I’ve had it do really well for me.
My anecdotal evidence seems to show that you can just go with the one you like better, and unless you’re really pushing content, you’ll be just fine and pretty much on par with someone who chose the other spec.

Exactly, and I completely agree. I think it entirely boils down to what you find more fun. You’re more likely to make optimizations on the gameplay you find fun which will in turn make you do better.

then something is extremely wrong, because im dusting my herald logs in keys and raid by 200k-300k
also logs of even better playters show this as everyone is going templar post buffs
now if you have more fun with herald thats a different story. more power to you
