My current pc has an Intel i5 12400 2.5gh cpu which I’m thinking may be the cause of the Radeon RX6600 gpu working really hard causing disconnects, (everything updated and all researched troubleshooting attempted without success). Would it be better to upgrade the cpu to an i5 13600K or go AMD with Ryzen 5 5600x 3.7gh cpu and B550 motherboard for about the same cost?
The game has disconnect issues right now
Falling a certain way = disconnect
Opening profession menu sometimes = disconnect
A CPU and/or GPU would not cause a disconnect
Worst case would be the ethernet port on your motherboard but if it only happens in WoW it isn’t the ethernet port
In short, it would be a waste of money to change hardware due to the disconnect because the hardware is almost guaranteed not at fault
You could try a UI reset, that has sometimes been addons causing disconnects. If it is happening in other games, could buy an addon ethernet port if the port/test your ethernet cable, just looked at mine it’s green that’s good.) Those upgrades are some sidegrades, probably not worth the money to do, unless other things don’t work/you still are under a part warranty in a return window. Have a similar 2020 build to yours in terms of hardware Intel i5 9600k Nvidia 3060 (pretty equivalent to 6600). If you have/haven’t restarted the router etc. Just not sure it’s worth an upgrade that doesn’t step up to an i7/ryzen 7 though 5600X or the 13400 would be minor upgrades. 12400 should be a decent 6C 12TH machine, am on an older 6C Intel with it meeting most of my needs well. If there are connection issues outside of game also might be easier to backup and reset the OS. My older skylake i5 1060 spare also doesn’t get any dc issues (on either the board or add-in 2.5gb ethernet card), don’t think the hardware is at fault but check things/maybe scan the game too if above aren’t working. I think the only place 13600K or 5600X might be worth for content like m+/raiding/world bosses/bgs ashran would boost better. I will sometimes render scale on those also because it’s cpu demanding tasks.
