When you got your first glad, not counting percentage glad cuz that was more difficult.
Is it getting to 2400 or the 50 wins grind after it?
Finding a time everyone can link up consistently when you’re not exhausted or eating into other responsibilities.
That’s definitely something affects both getting the rating and the wins grind for sure. Been sitting on 5 wins for a week cuz my teammates are tired or we’re working.
Why don’t you use LFG
I think ratings are tied to mental blocks a lot of the time. It seems not attainable until it is, and then it’s your new baseline. Thinking of my first, I’d say the first roadblock is the 50 wins because it’s highly likely you’ll drop out of range at some point and it can be very demoralizing to certain types of people. You need to just stay focused and concentrate on winning and playing well and don’t hyper fixate over the rating.
The other part is simply linking up. I think I finished mine this season in 3 sessions but those sessions took weeks to finish because of work (entirely my work to be specific, not theirs). Fortunately my buds I played with were super chill about it. They also both hit it before me because they didn’t wanna wait for just me (understandable lol).
Lastly, you do need solid teammates. Sometimes no matter how cool your friends are, they just don’t have it in them at the moment. It’s awesome to grow and improve together but literally running yourself into a wall over and over may not be the move. The last thing you wanna do for your first glad is carry.
basically just wanna avoid anyone like this really
it’s hard because this is MOST people as they’re newer to “achieving” anything
by your 6th or 7th you can q from 2500 to 2100 in a couple hours and feel nothing more than some minor disdain twords a few specs in the game
Yeah, 100%. I’ve always mentioned to my friends (and even my wife if we’re playing gears of war lol) that I’m the kind of person who can try something over and over and over without feeling “tired” of it. I get more motivated the more I fail. Very much a “go again” mentality. Sadly this is not shared with most people I interact with.
Lfg died when ss went live. I’ve seen people make it work but they also afk for 10 hours a day in lfg. Don’t have time for it any more.
wins are the worst part imo especially for your first glad
I think I remember on my first one dropping out of glad range a couple of times so having to get back to 2400 just for the wins to start counting again sucked
q’s are a bit slow depending on when you q, getting everyone on at the same time to do the 50
fighting people who already finished glad and are qing out of boredom, or r1 teams on alts of the same spec, and then the occasional asbur self-play
Flat out the most annoying part is 50 wins. Only reason is because if you end up winning a lot you’ll be at annoyingly high mmr / cr for the actual achieve you want.
Experience 1:
Played to 2400 with Drexia and Murph, except Murph was like 2200 when Drexia and I hit 2400. I think we ended up being well over 2700 by the 35 win mark and it gets so boring playing that high for an achievement I could just get by playing between 2375-2400.
I 100% think you should be auto given glad under the current system if you crack 2.6/2.7 at any point. Idc if you’re at 50 yet.
Experience 2:
Qd fire ret rsham with Nas and Garbage and proceeded to be 2800+ cr without a glad and had Nas log on his 2100 feral to finish them out because I simply didn’t care to play @ 2800 anymore.
Again, glad after 2.6/2.7 would fix that.
Finding people to play with is the most difficult part by far. I pretty much quit as soon as I got glad. Not worth playing anymore.
I decided to fully commit to 3v3s next season. Won’t touch pve anymore and see how far i can get. I’m not aiming for glad, but getting 2400 at least would be ideal.
The hardest part was patiently waiting for blizzsard to swing the FOTM in my favor
50 wins is a mental war.
When you’re getting first glad the biggest fear is dropping below 2380 and not getting wins towards the 50 and then the terror that you’ll just keep tanking lower and lower.
Honestly for me the most impressive part of any arena feat, esp. R1 title is just peoples willingness to play the game. Spamming ladder for hours every night, esp. at an MMR thats the top of the ladder fries your brain so aggresively and those MFers just like never stop Q’ing.
The resilience to just keep playing the game night in and out is whats always the most impressive from my POV.
This would be me Just trying to get duelist in 2s in DFs3 was so stressful to me. Heart pounding every game once I was close to 2100. Although I’m not a negative attitude, I just get really nervous and anxious that I won’t get it if I don’t get it in that queue session. It’s weird and anxiety filled
Its finding the players to get it with
the rating, and the wins are very easy, around 2400 rating your wins and losses are almost exclusively based around class/spec. You fight counters you lose, you fight classes you counter you win
Skill plays a role especially if the disparity is large, But ultimately the better players get the more scripted the games become
so the hardest part is literally getting 2 others to accompany you on a similar schedule to que consistently and not rage quit before its over in a game thats player count has been in constant decline
I think it’s going to be a different experience for different people depending on your mental around the game where you’re at in your life.
For me my first glad the hardest part for sure was getting 2400 in the first place. That being said, it was my first season playing pvp period, so I had so much to learn. I was also just out of undergrad working part time so I had all the free time in the world and 50 wins didn’t feel like a commitment at all.
Now the 50 wins is SIGNIFICANTLY more tiresome because it’s never 50 wins at 2400. It’s 5-10 wins at 2400, 5-10 at 25-2600, and then 30-40 wins at 2700+ mmr and against awc/multi R1 teams so it’s WAY more work than the first one was.
I relate to this SO much. My friends rib me often because I cannot end on a loss even if it means staying up late and Qing into an unfavored matchup XD
This basically. This season, for example, I went from 2400 to 2650ish in one Q session going 15-1 with Envyion and Tuna and was at 3k mmr. Grinding the next 35 was BRUTAL.
Agreed!
WDYM They didn’t, you just rerolled DH!
I was getting gatekept by WW/Ele/Rdruid as MM Cupid the other day. We would beat every other team just to reach them every time. Felt super rough and I couldn’t get kill pressure while I was dead all game even outside offensive CDs.
If anyone has advice for a relative newbie to Cupid, what’s the better target? Felt like ele couldn’t die and the WW was dangerous because he got to cleave/sweep when ret swapped him. The swaps onto rdruid felt like the only time we got close to killing.
Your ret should just play ranged 24/7 with Cupid. Any target in that comp is fine probably get pressure really rolling if you do attempts on the healer as well
