Harder Stance on anti-AFKers

The queues are significantly better today, so firstly thank you very much for the increased stability and allowing more people to make it online. Though another huge improvement to server stability would be a harder stance on people anti-AFKing. Each server has thousands of people using automated systems to manually avoid getting AFKed or people using macros/software. These thousands of people being gone would open up a lot more room for people to get into the game and cut queues in half.

Most of them are using anti-AFK tricks for hours at a time (5+ hours). Practically ever inn in each layer is filled with them. We have been reporting them as we encounter them, but Blizzard, please find a fix to this. Even if it’s just periodically DCing the zones to get rid of them. While that’s annoying, I understand, I’m also online and not in queue, and it is very annoying, yes. But I am completely fine with being slightly inconvenienced so long as thousands more people are able to make it online and the people exploiting the game’s system are punished.

Stalagg’s Lakeshire Inn has around seven in it just in my layer, there was also a screenshot of the crossroads Inn absolutely FILLED with people doing it, going AFK, jumping up, using an ability, and then rinse and repeating for hours.

Totally agree with penalizing people for this. Crossroads INN for Stalagg is filled with people using anti-afk macros and perfectly timed movement patterns.

I’d link a screenshot but not allowed.

Nothing can compare to the Aion summer event afk jumpers

Got disconnected 4 times while in the Queue.
Know for a fact that multiple people are just afk jumping in Inn and in Towns.
+1 to get them spanked into the disconnect void.

I saw someone today just jumping up and down all afternoon every time i passed them to hand in quests on Grobulus. Have the decency to log put and let others on to play, as i do.

Ive done it and would continue if my server had a queue. Blame blizz for this happening. People should not have to wait hours to get back on if they went afk and got logged.

Blame Blizzard for what exactly? Your games too popular Blizzard FIX IT!!!

You can’t blame blizz really there are other options then waiting several hours in a queue like go to another server. The whole my peeps are on this server just means u need to convince them to go else where. Otherwise they really don’t care to play with you. Blizzard has done everything they can by opening up more servers and now even increasing the capacity. Go to a server you can play on and stop whining that blizzard NEEDS to fix this

back in the day I use to use a key stroke from a fan passing my keyboard with a stick taped to it… it would hit the space bar… I wouldn’t jump to conclusions like a girl thinking people are using a addon/software.

also remoting logging in from a phone is the secret ingredient.

Exactly can’t blame ppl for taking advantage of the tech available to them

I’ve been recording the different anti-afk macros and movements today.

The point is… You are not playing and busy with something else. If it takes you longer than ~15 mins being away from the computer and not playing. You are basically just supporting DDOS. “If I don’t get to play when I want, I’ll make sure you don’t either”. Like come on already… Regardless of the method you use.

I don’t know how big the problem actually is but I’ve seen much more than a few.

The crossroads usually has 20-30+ people in their inn with many just running into walls or periodically jumping.

Every time Blizzard has done a DC, people have a few minutes to get back online when they’re not AFK. It weeds out the anti-AFKers. Every time they have done this, the queue has dropped by several thousand.

If it’s a couple people doing it, it’s not that big of a deal. But thousands of people are doing it and exploiting, as a result, they are killing the servers by keeping them locked into 6-14K queues that take hours upon hours.

There is only so much they can increase server capacity to where the game is playable. They did that this morning and it has been amazing. However. The next step needs to be getting rid of these people that are screwing over the rest of the population of the server by being selfish and breaking ToS. Any punishment whatsoever is justified. I hope more than anything Blizzard bans them, I hope Blizzard runs detections for people staying dead or going into instances alone to anti-AFK. In the meantime all we can do is hope Blizzard sees this and does something, and continue to report them. I sincerely thank everyone in the community doing something to combat this. There isn’t much we can do, but at least we can say we tried to better our servers and our community.

Regardless of what Blizzard does, you can’t get rid of everyone that is doing it. Why? Because not everyone is using automated software to remain connected to the servers. Some are using remote connectivity tools to their home PCs from either their own laptops, mobile devices, or work PCs.

It’s an unfortunately thing that is the result of having such ridiculous queue times. But they are not breaking ToS in any kind of way so how do you combat that? You can’t.

Not all of them are breaking ToS, but thousands are using 3rd party software to use macros which prevent them from AFKing while asleep, like a Dwarf hunter I just found and reported in the Sentinel Hill Inn that has been nonstop jumping for quite some time now. That’s not likely them at their computer. It’s software. And those people can be banned. It will at least significantly decrease the number.

And the best way to do it is to just do periodic DCs to zones, while it’s annoying to be DCed, you can get right back in and resume. But someone that is anti-AFKing is gone.

Blame blizz for not being hard enough on people abusing the ToS. It shouldn’t be just a disconnect, it should be a 24 hour ban for abusing ToS afk policy and then if you are found to be abusing a second time, an 8 day ban.
