EDIT: So it appears I just wasn’t paying attention and this has been there all along. My bad. Move along. Nothing to see here. Good day.
I was just bouncing from different realms and noticed the hardcore realm listing now has “Hardcore Normal” under realm type for DP and SR. Seems very likely hardcore PvP servers are on the way.
I think thats always how it was, while I won’t care if they launch a HC PvP server, a HC PVP server would rapidly become either a Horde or Alliance PvE server where the winning side will occasionally find a low level noob on the other side they can quickly gank then celebrate that their glorious and overwhelming victory in vanquishing their enemy, before they go back to their PvE.
I think the tag “normal” has more to do with the fact that it’s not strictly PvE, since you can intentionally flag and enter PvP combat. The tag RP is because there are additional rules (even though they are often overlooked) unfortunately.
I want a HC PvP realm… but what I dont want are the thousands of forum posts that we are all going to have to deal with from people saying that they got ganked on a PvP HC server. People already complain about dying in HC, they complain about dying by getting ganked in PvP on a PvP server…I would rather we don’t combine the two. What like 1 to 5% would like it and the rest would make it miserably for those giving it a try? So… Na. I’ll have to say no go on that one.
Hope so. Will it be as dead as HC is in a month or will it last longer? Based off of current era servers, it’s clear PvP is more popular… but then again PvE is more popular on the retail side of things.
PvP with actual consequences may differ from the current PvP servers in longevity. Just like regular hardcore it’ll drop off within a few months. I’d expect the PvP HC servers to be less populated though, it’s a niche within a niche.
