Hardcore Offical: Pros & Cons

I see posts about which type of hardcore would be best for official. Here’s what I think. And, feel free to add your thoughts.

Rules:
-If You Die, You Can’t Rez.
-No Other Rules
Pro: It’s the most basic to understand.
Pro: It’s the original idea of the concept.
Pro: It’s more inviting to new players.
Pro: It allows for more choice, in terms of how you want to play it.
Pro: (Alard) pro : enchanting would be a feasible option. Unless you’re duoing with the addon, getting the rods is brutal.
Con: It may split the hc community some. As some may stay on Blood Sail.
Con: (Bonerover) A server with trade would allow bots to benefit.

-Use the current hardcore addon rules.
Pro: It’s the most known ruleset right now.
Pro: (Bigshiesty) Intensified gameplay
Con: It’s very anti-social.
Con: Not new player friendly.
Con: Limits your freedom, with how you can play.
Con: Causes bottle-neck quests to form a queue.
Con: Would be unappealing to some players, lowering the overall population.

A server with trade would allow bots to benefit.

The addon being community ran has much better response to the players in regards to anything.

Could you clarify this? I’m not quite understanding the context of this sentence.

If server is automatic forced delete upon death, players will easily control the bot population. Bots are by far the easiest toons to kill off. Bots will not get a foothold on hc servers, trade or no trade.

They kill themselves all the time. lol. I also think bots would have trouble getting a foothold. But, it’s still a possibility, so added it as a con to the first rule set.

You’ll just get more effective botters.

If there a problem that arises they’re more likely to answer it/fix it versus Blizzard.

Not really. They’ll abuse the systems. Considering how long it took Blizzard to ban 120k DKs just shows they’ll let it get to a point of extreme saturation before clearing it out.

If any trade is allowed outside of restrictions by the addon, bots will be present.

Are you talking about the current hardcore community’s mods?

Not looking for Blizzard to fix anything… ever. We all know they just smash a bunch of keys, call it code and let it ride.

What I am saying is, on a HC server where death = delete, bots will just be dead. Max level bots will not exist. Players will see bots and players will get them dead. Bots will not be an issue on death = delete servers if the delete is automatic.

“hardcore” players are just weird. Wanting to play an MMORPG but playing it single player and ignoring everyone else, and losing hundreds of hours of progress to a lag spike for no reason other than bragging rights

weirdos

Bots that die and lose everything then have to reset?
kekw.

It is not like that.

They do have that ruleset for a singular reason: T hey cannot guarantee that you’re trading and exchanging items / gold with other hardcore only players.

Once that there is a hardcore realm, those rules can be lifted.

Furthermore, they do trade and do craft gear for each other, example is during the SoM run they had their blacksmith with full mats and died and they lost a lot mats for crafting gear for each other.

I’m just saying, the hardcore ruleset should be simple: you die, you delete. (Or transfer off).

Just like videos showing admins dying and having their “hardcore” status reset?
Thanks but I’m out, I’m not clowning myself or letting myself being clowned with something like it was the Hardcore kill on SoM of Rag. There were people that legitimately died and they “reset” their life allowing them to continue.

Others using weak aura / addon to show the SoI buff when they didn’t have it.

Just started my first HC character yesterday, Kinda wish that i could group with other HC players aswell as use the AH. Maybe something along the lines of HC auction house where only flagged hardcore players could auction. Maybe its a sucky idea but thats the input of a 1 day old HC player

there’s no way blizzard is going to implement all the HC rules on a new server. it’s just going to be death=delete, if it happens at all

There is no perfect system but any server that allows trade without high restrictions will have bots.

could see a few more rules than just death=delete. Maybe something like dungeons only once

idk I think that is an L take Astrogazer. i made my first HC wow character yesterday after 10+ years of wow. It intensifies the experience. and, simply put, don’t die and you will have no issues.

You’re comparing one system that we already have proof of crooked players and the system itself administrators allow cheating happening.

vs

A system where you think it will happen.
