I want to propose some small changes that will help the HC community.
Quick Background Context:
I’ve been playing on the Defias Pillager server as alliance since the launch of HC.
I made it to 60 and I have been raiding for the past 5 months without dying.
I’ve killed KT (2), C’thun(11), Nef(9), and Rag (13).
Defias Pillager has come a long way as a server. In the beginning many players goals were to just reach 60 and only few had the ultimate goal of killing KT. Back then there were really only 2 choices for end game content - HC Elite, or Frontier. Frontier’s main goal was to kill KT before anyone else at any cost. They were able to achieve this goal and soon after dissolved. This left the server in a pretty bad place. If you wanted to complete end game content you only had one choice - HC Elite.
Time has passed and I feel like the server is in the best place it has ever been in for end game content. Aspiring players now have multiple avenues of completing end game content.
Petri on God - Clearing MC/BWL - 6 bosses in AQ40 - Early Naxx progression
HC Delete - Clearing MC/BWL - 6 bosses in AQ40 - Early Naxx progression
HC Elite - Clearing MC, BWL, AQ40, Naxx
Purpose - Clearing MC, BWL, AQ40, Naxx
The end game community is growing; however, there are 3 major problems:
- Server Stability
- Encounter Stability
- Griefing
Suggestions:
- Razorgore
In this encounter there is a kill all reset mechanic. Razorgore can be pulled and reset into a kill all mechanic. This kills everyone in the raid and promotes griefing. Also, Razorgore can bug out on geometry and trigger this mechanic. Sometimes you have 1.5 seconds to react with a petri; other times you have no ability to react.
Every time an aspiring HC player sees a mechanic like this they are turned away from end game content.
If you can’t guarantee Razorgore bugging out on terrain… just remove the kill all mechanic. Make the explosion do 0 damage to players. You can teleport players back to the entrance or even just give them 1 minute before everything respawns.
- C’thun
Every time the game client is updated C’thun’s Dark Glare ability bugs out. C’thun wiggles and wobbles the entire Dark Glare phase. This is not acceptable in a HC setting. The only reason HC works in vanilla wow is because encounters are easy, and known. When an encounter starts acting differently than normal because of some random change in SoD… it’s not ok.
If there are common methods used across encounters and developers are changing those common methods then they need to ensure they dont break every other encounter that uses that method before pushing and deploying.
- Shared Game Services
This one might be a bit hard to tackle, but SoD events should not effect the stability of HC servers. We need HC to live in a vacuum when it comes to shared game services and even common development changes.
- PvP Flagging
Only flag the player if they attack guards, or disable the players ability to attack guards completely if they aren’t already flagged. Being attacked by a guard should not flag you it encourages griefing.
