Hardcore mode

We know a real hardcore mode would never work for WoW but IF, see that IF, they try to plan one up how do you think the system would work? Like if you die you can’t rez for X hours or something. Def no XP loss that’s the whole point of WoW back in the day.

A few people would try it once.

Like any other hardcore system. You die, that’s it. No rez after X hours or days. It’s just over for that character.

And that’s why it wouldn’t work for WoW. Anything short of what I described above is not hardcore.

How about the loss all levels, exp and gold down to previous checkpoint/save point. Make check points every 10 or so levels. So, everything from, let’s say, level 10 to whenever you died is gone. and you start over from there.

Oh. And no passing gold to alts. Hardcore toons are self contained.

Could be fun. Probably exploitable as hell

XP loss and deleveling upon death, true corpse runs (no spirit form) with all your gear still on your death location, mobs tuned to need forced grouping, need to eat and sleep, pvp looting, a real grind system (no rep from quests, no dailies, at best 3 rep per kill), no binding of gear ever, etc …

Server would die out in a week. Guaranteed. Everyone thinks they want hardcore until they get it.

MMO “hardcore” modes are typically:

-Once you die, by any means, whether it be by PvE or PvP means, that character is dead and gone, you lose him/her forever.

It wouldn’t be as bad NOW as it would have years back, since War Mode toggle is now a thing. Had this been implemented during Cata or MoP, it would have been a disaster. You can now avoid unwanted ganking/PvP if you choose to… but still, if you get killed by a mob you underestimated, your character would be gone for good.

RuneScape has a similar system called “Ironman”…

Sounds like original Everquest to me. Yikes!

not how it works in PoE but ok

How about just do it like runescape?

Your character dies they lose their hardcore status. That’s it.

If you die other players can loot your corpse and steal your gear and gold in a FFA PvP world.

You die, its permanant. Like diablo.

Yeah, this works. No point in making people throw their time away by auto-deleting the character or something, but they lose the status, any restrictions that may have applied as part of that status, and any associated titles or whatever.

Wouldn’t work if they’re not on a hardcore only server, some nonhardcores would just gank them.

Warmode is optional. Or, hell, it could be an active choice at creation for “hardcore” characters. Additional achievements/titles for doing it with Warmode. No post-creation toggle until Hardcore status is revoked.

Yea give all you hardcore players a mode all to yourself. Make it so if you die you lose 5 levels for each death.

In Warmode, if you get defeated by someone, you drop gear from one of your slots and your opponent can loot it.

Very poorly

All you’d see would be rogues and ferals. And you wouldn’t see them.

I like the idea of Torghast. Endless dungeons are a blast from the past for me, as they were a staple of old RPG games on consoles and PC.

And i’m very excited to see how Torghast works. The proposed idea of endless infinite scaling with changing events is promising.

Players lose their collective minds when they don’t get a gear upgrade, pretty sure losing your toon would put you over the edge.

I tried this in Diablo with hardcore mode and I was left feeling very bitter that everything was gone for good and it was essentially for nothing but the experience.

I guess I’m just too attached to “things” to give them up for any meaningful amount of time.
