Hear me out. The focus of HC is the journey to 60, not end game rading or PVP. Only have a limited time to play or work odd hours? No problem! Even if you only have an hour or 2 to play daily, that’s still time to do some quests, work on professions, ect. The average character death occuring at level 14 means you’ll never be too far behind in progress.
Have friends that used to play WoW but quit because of time constraints? Tell them about HC. As someone who though HC was stupid when I heard about it but decided to give it a try, I get it now.
And no one’s worried about grinding out pre-raid BIS, etc. On top of that, people have been more willing to help others out on these realms from what I’ve seen, and group more, and be more social, probably because it’s required than that they want to. Easier to find “friends,” and elitism/toxicity is much lower than Era, WotLK, and retail by 10000x, making this mode “new-player friendly,” despite having to start over when ded.
I only have an hour or so to game per day, and while wow is nice and relaxing… i feel like once i inevitably die ill have a feeling of regret on how i spent this time.
I enjoy classic wow but it would take me months to level to 60 once and i know i will die at some point.
This will probably be a one and done experience for me. I couldnt bring myself to spend all that time walking around and grinding mobs again.
Well, you may not be able to play the character on the HC realm anymore, but you can continue if you’d like on a non-HC realm with a free transfer so not all progress is lost I guess right?
All my real life friends have moved on from Warcraft a long time ago.

I walk a lonely road
The only one that I have ever known
I’ll occasionally accept a group invite from being proximity to other people doing the same quest but other than that I’m traveling mostly on my own. Even on retail.
Pretty close. In vanilla people didn’t have access to easy information about anything. People talked a lot, asked for help a lot, and typically contributed to the community. This was also before blizzard went “lol esports” with WoW so we didn’t have the “social types” associated to it.
I like it since its more “personal”. I play basically for me. MY needs, my wants…and its all good. If II succeed or fail…it’s all on me.
Meanwhile in wrath…“peer pressure”. I must get better gear to not be a drain to the team. If I cared to pve more, Meet gs or be an exile cast out from groups.
Wrath my progress is not all in my hands. I ahve successfully kept LM up facing strong adversity. My damage meters are not zerg spam. Its 1 on 1’s and sometimes 2 on 1’s where one of them was jsut not geared/leveled up to me. Kill weaker link, then their friend.
And…we keep losing farm/stable to ghost capping. And lose match on points in time. I can’t be at 2 places at once. Sigh…
