Hardcore is going to fail miserably

blizzard cant even prevent DDoSes on week 5 diablo. they also did nothing to help the players that lost their hardcore players to this. you dont think there will be similar server attacks on hardcore launch?? dont expect the game to be playable for a week and by then everyone will have lost interest
if only you spent the resources on something like classic+ instead of making a for-fun community addon game-mode even worse somehow.

From a business perspective, I’m surprised they’re even doing this. Everyone who wants to play HC has probably or is playing it right now. I’m willing to bet 95% of people who are going to play HC have at least 1 WoW subscription. There’s just not enough new stuff to attract the unsubbed back to the game, and considering they are not monetizing the HC servers in any way past the sub requirement, there is virtually no money to be made here.

No, this post is not supporting the in-game shop in Classic, it’s just looking at the whole HC situation from a different view. With Classic+ or SoM2 or whatever they might be calling their next incarnation of Classic, they should go big or go home

With Diablo, Blizz has always had a hands off way of dealing with hardcore deaths. They warn you with Diablo 2 and Diablo 3, and I am almost positive they warn you with Diablo 4, that CS wont restore a dead character for any reason. If you log on and play your hardcore during an ongoing DDoS attack and die, thats your fault not Blizzards.

As far as DDoS’es there is no solid prevention for it. They end up pulling resources elsewhere to handle the increased traffic, and if the traffic is still to much to handle, their provider will pull the plug all together for a while. No company has a solid solution to preventing DDoS attacks.
