I think they should do an experiment with a single PVP realm. It would naturally be a campfest, but that’s exactly the point: Old School World PVP without rules- Imagine entire raids at Northire Abbey or Valley of Trials with the purpose of keeping noobs alive. The world pvp coule be the means to control the entire faction ratio depending on which faction gets the advantage of having more higher level characters. Is this too crazy?
Loooooooool.
More like raids of rogues sitting at the entrances to Redridge/Westfall/the barrens all fight for the chance to dance in the entrails of lowbies
Edit to add: I honestly do hope y’all get your PvP HC server. I wouldn’t play it but if would, I say have at it.
The delusional thinking about this cracks me up every time.
It would be more enjoyable that normal HC, yes. So no less crazy than basic HC.
I wish they would so the six people who keep spamming this silliness could have their Benny Hill server and I could have something to read at work.
The majority of players that want hardcore world pvp just want to use high-level/well-geared characters to gank other players. They want a system where the prey can’t opt out and as a way to excuse their actions by claiming to be working within the rules of the system.
If these players really wanted a “fair” pvp fight, they could make use of the Mak’gora system, but there are two issues here.
- Hardcore has a significant time and resource commitment, so the majority of people will not participate unless they think they have a good shot at winning with reasonable risk.
- The world pvp player wants an asymmetric advantage where they can leverage their preparation, environment, and knowledge to improve their chance of killing. As a result, a lot of that advantage goes away when the target has the chance to prepare for the fight, and now it’s a higher risk engagement for the world pvp player.
In fact, a pvp realm is not needed. Just look at videos of people camping areas (Ashenvale, Dustwallow Marsh, Swamp of Sorrows, …) for unsuspecting players that get to close to enemy faction npcs and get flagged.
Its fine for world pvp players to get a kick out of ganking in normal realms, but to do it in hardcore, its just griefing and should not be thing.
Recode the experience system to subtract experience any time a toon below you in level is killed and scale that experience based on the level difference. Likewise, killing someone of equal or greater level than you results in an experience gain/reward that scales with the difference.
WPvP is not a fair fight and is not intended to be fair. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes you get ganked by a player 10+ levels ahead of you. Players that complain about this should play PvE servers. It’s pretty simple.
Yes I love the idea.
Interesting however you are clearly a PvE player projecting your fear of such a realm existing.
The only people getting protection are the gankers in Swamp of Sorrows, for example. On a PvP Realm, these gankers/griefers wouldn’t be so brave to just wait for some noob to get flagged. They could get ganked themselves.
This is fine with non-hardcore gameplay. But you’re not going to get any sizeable population of players to signup to get ganked and loose days of character process. Hardcore already has enough challenges that you can and can’t control. Disconnects are a major problem with losing player agency, and now you want to add even more crap that can randomly kill your character.
There’s nothing to gain here by having hardcore pvp servers.
The counter-ganking argument is something people like to say, but its not based on reality. No white knight is going to come in and save you. No group of people are going to body guard you all the time. You might have a shot if you are multiboxing and can swap over to your main, but that’s a niche scenario.
Again, there’s nothing to gain here by having hardcore pvp servers. Just use your brain for a minute and think about player psychology and risk vs reward systems. Or just admit that you get your kicks by griefing people and want noobs to get baited into playing on hardcore pvp server.
This is expected. And it’s fine. HC literally has 1 server and the other on life support.
Options are good. Regular HC is boring to me. I would prefer to play a HC experience with PvP or better yet, a full loot experience.

The counter-ganking argument is something people like to say, but its not based on reality.
This is false. If you’d played PvP focused games, police forces are 100% a thing and they’re often greatly outnumbering player killers.

Or just admit that you get your kicks by griefing people and want noobs to get baited into playing on hardcore pvp server.
Ah, there it is. The PvE narcissism comes out. The age old ridicule that players that enjoy PvP experiences must also have some sick sadistic tendency attached to it. Or maybe it’s just as simple as we prefer to play the game with PvP enabled? Shocking.
If people really want more HC PvP, they will probably need to establish HC guilds on both the Alliance/Horde side of one of the servers, then coordinate HC PvP days between the two guilds, where they pick a zone, and have somewhat loosely coordinated world PvP.
