I have reached 606 in every slot of my character (Figgil-proudmoore) and I am not receiving the “Harbinger of the Carved” acheivement.
Further more, I didn’t receive the “Harbinger of the weathered” acheive until 597, despite outgrowing the crests at 593.
The intention of these systems used to be to help players slowly get the next tier of crest, but a requirement 1 tier higher than what they can acquire completely ruins that experience.

Same issue and experienced the same thing with Harbinger of the Weathered not being granted when I outgrew them. I’m finally seeing it now that I’ve progressed a level higher. But have also outgrown the Carved and don’t see that discount yet either.
It looks like they fixed this, this evening. I got my achieve upon logging in.
This still isn’t working properly. Just upgraded my final slots to 606 and didn’t get the achievement and can’t exchange crests.
Tried relogging and restarting the game completely and still no update. Also tried upgrading something else further to see if it would trigger, and nada.
I am having the same issue. All slots at 606. I upgraded a few beyond 606. Have relogged, waited a day, etc.
Meant to post from this toon. 606 in each slot.
I was able to force the achievement. I had to upgrade a 3rd trinket to 606. I went through all the things in my bags looking to see if any didn’t benefit from the reduced crest upgrade cost. I found a trinket that was 603 that still costs carved crests to upgrade to 606. I did that and got the achievement (even though I already had had two trinkets at 606).
Thanks for this. Going to try it out as soon as I get another trinket!
This issue still exists. Praia has all 606 or higher gear and I cannot purchase runed crests. I even upgraded all the gear in my bag to 606 and reloaded… nada…
I am experiencing this. All my gear on my rogue is 606 or better, and I still don’t have it completed. Very frustrating in light of the new trade up ratios. I’ve got 241 Carved crests that are useless.
If you link your profile, we can troubleshoot (but more importantly, Blizzard has no idea what you are specifically referring to without a provided source, which creates more work for them if they choose to investigate).
100% of these cases I have looked at on this forum fall into one of two categories: The person in question looted an item at the target threshold or higher that isn’t appropriate for their class, or they actually just missed an item.

Here is a link to the Armory Is that what you’re referring to?
Yes. Your rogue’s profile says you earned Harbinger of the Carved on 11/06 (though, FYI, if that strength sword in your offhand were your only weapon at 606+, it wouldn’t have qualified; luckily you had another). Seems to be legit since your priest’s date is much later, 11/21. Double-check the crest vendor to see what you can buy.
Yeah, I had not noticed that the sword had only strength. I play a lot of alts and it’s been a while for this guy.
So, the achievement says “outgrow the need for carved”. Does that mean, you have all gear that requires higher level crests, or no gear that can be upgraded with carved? He has several Vet. items, that are maxed out. Do those count for “outgrowing carved”?
It means you have all upgradeable slots at 606 such that you can’t possibly spend any more Carved Crests.
OK, so looks like it might have been the Str. sword. Once I realized it I fished out an agility one of the same caliber from my warbank and upgraded it to Vet. 8/8 and the next time I logged in I got the Achievement.
Not sure if that’s how it’s supposed to work, but it seems to ignore any gear without your primary stat.
When I’ve had this issue, unequipping, re-equipping, and reloading fixed it. Maybe that might work for you?
The developers haven’t typically made a big deal of it, but yeah. Your class decides what gear works for you. Gear with attributes not proper for how the devs designed your class and role will not contribute to most important things like that.
You also lose out on a hidden buff you’re supposed to get if all slots are equipped with appropriate gear.
This does make sense. To gain weapon credit for a specific threshold, you essentially need two “hands’” worth of weapons at the threshold that are appropriate for your spec. That breaks down into these possibilities (assuming the scenario applies to the class you’re on):
- Any two-hander
- Any pair of one-handed weapons
- A one-handed weapon and shield or off-hand item
It ignores any gear that isn’t valid for any specialization of your class.
