Why would Canada have thanksgiving which is a us holiday on another day that isn’t the day that thanksgiving is on?

Canadian Thanksgiving was first. Not just in date but they started celebrating Thanksgiving like 4 decades before us.

Because in Canada it’s related to the Harvest Festival. Not the coming of Pilgrims to fraggle rock or whatever like in the US. (Canada’s Trousers)

Thanksgiving is a harvest festival based, like the US, on days of thanksgiving going back to the Reformation.

Our northern harvest finishes earlier so it makes sense that this tradition you think is American happens slightly earlier.

P.S. Other countries have Christmas too!
