Happy Juneteenth!

And a Happy Father’s day.

Be safe out there people

I honestly don’t know what Juneteenth is or really care.

All I know is the stock market is closed today and my garbage man has the day off so it must be an important holiday of some sort.

You should. Slavery really sucks, and there is so much disrespect in the world today.

It helps to display some form of sympathy.

You forgot they attributed the civil rights movement to the death of “freedom of association,” lol, that was my favorite one

Some people are just jerks for no reason. Some of you met one here today. Now we can move on and continue with the purpose of the post I guess.

I hate that name. It was called Jubilee and Emancipation Day regionally, so I have no idea where the name “juneteenth” came from.

I’m somehow not surprised that it’s okay to say “Merry Christmas” or “Happy Fourth,” but we say “Happy Juneteenth” and the OP gets flagged and the racism comes out.

Sad country we live in.

You’d think so, but something to consider is… if an area, any area, collapses to the point where first responders (of any type) can no longer accurately report findings (if there are any) or simply do their jobs, then you will see a collapse in data as well.

I understand both sides like to make statements about cities being trouble areas ( to put it nicely), but realistically it’s probably far worse.

Your argument kind of reminds me of that Chernobyl event, where radiation meters were detecting radiation at 3 roentgens, and they assumed since the data indicated things weren’t that bad, that they probably weren’t that bad. Basically, the meters are broke, but you want to think things are just fine, because a broken meter is telling you that they are.

I don’t think that’s fair, you’re making an assumption.

This thread is a great example of why we need one-person, one-avatar policies on the forums. To be able to hide behind an alt and say tinfoil hat nonsense is lazy on Blizzard’s part.

Happy Juneteenth Day, folks.

You left out some important context, there is more slavery worldwide than at any point in human history.

This is less of a dogwhistle and more of a fog horn at this point.

And apparently, it worked. Their supporters have arrived to defend their position.

Except you said:

Which isn’t what this holiday is about. We’ve got several International and National Awareness days for everything you’re talking about.

I’m all for creating new holidays to be inclusive but “Juneteenth” is the stupidest name I’ve ever heard.

Just a reminder, we celebrate Columbus day, a day to celebrate a hack who discovered nothing.

Population of the world is about 7-8 billion. Under 400 million in the US.

You are saying that nearly 1 outta 3 people in the entire world has this view.

As someone who is routinely banned from the forums, I can tell you, from experience… that this thread and conversation should be avoided. You guys arguing aren’t going to get anything out of this, there’s no use insulting each other, and at the end of the day you probably have more in common than not, so agree to disagree and move on.

Its not about world wide slavery.

It is not about the abolishment of worldwide slavery.

Yes, specifically the end of slavery in the United States. It has nothing to do with modern slavery around the world.

What’s your argument here? That we shouldn’t celebrate the end of legalized slavery because human trafficking still happens?
