Happy Indigenous Peoples Day!

This post is to pay homage to all the OG native Americans, the struggles they’ve endured, and to the future generations that currently keep old traditions alive.
Have a great day and have a donut! :doughnut: :doughnut: :doughnut: :doughnut: :doughnut: :doughnut: :doughnut:

Gotta be careful around her how we celebrate this. We know what happened with the last one.

So I guess I’m bound and limited to just say: Happy Indigenous day!
… and grab a donut.

I’ve always found it unfortunate that a bunch of their languages are dead or dying

It’s good thing when we find reasons to celebrate each other.
No need to warp it into something hateful.
If you feel love for it celebrate it! :two_hearts:
Don’t shut other people down when they’re trying to be joyful.

Happy Columbus Day to all you boomers who learned history wrong. Not your fault, we understand.

The rest of us will be over here celebrating Indigenous People.

It’s a no mail holiday I think. A one day respite from politcal ads.

Schools are out too. Around here, at least.

I often find political proselytizing and moralizing irritating, particularly because people’s narratives are often so tangled and self-destructive.

But while I don’t necessarily find WoW a good place for such discussions, I actually do agree with the sentiment. I hope the old traditions can be preserved as a living history as long as possible, and perhaps even revived to greater prominence.

Just be careful not to fall into psychological traps of materialism. There are many who claim to support spiritual cultures while actively rejecting their ideas. Without true respect for these ideas, it’s easy, then, to treat such traditions as mere novelties.
