Happy Canadian Thanksgiving and a meaningful Yom Kippur!

Whether it’s turkey, or honey cake, I want to wish my fellow forumites observing either or both holidays a happy long weekend!

Let’s keep religion out of this game please.

Don’t come around at Christmas, because I’ll be full of cheer and good wishes then too!

I’ll be spending the day with family, but we actually make pierogi and ham instead of doing turkey.

Sounds yummy!

I have a bunch of homemade perogies in the freezer. Maybe I’ll do that for brunch!

What about the religion of the rainbow? They are 1 step away from tax-exempt status

That time of year already? I should call up my relatives (they’re orthodox). They came over last year to visit their side of the family for Purim, which I hadn’t celebrated before them.

Fun times - hope y’all have a safe and fun one!

And I guess you Canadians can have a good holiday too, ya crazy Canucks :turkey:

Pierogi is usally attributed to Polish tradition, but there are many recipes that wrap carbs in carbs. Empanadas can come stuffed in all sorts of goodies. Turnovers too. Pasties. Shepherd’s pie, sort of. The taters top a mixture of carb laden root veggies and meat.

I make pierogi on the regular. Man the work, but the end result is worth it.

True true. I just like potatoes wrapped in even more potato.

Potato casserole is for you my friend. There’s like a bazillion ways to make it. I like to bake 4-5 red potatoes, refrigerate and slice them cold. Butter up a baking tray and layer the slices on the bottom. Then you pick whatever meal mix you want, layer it in the middle and do either tater tots or hashbrowns on top. For breakfast you might do eggs and bacon. Lunch might be ham and broccoli, or turkey broc. Dinner might be beef, carrots, onions and a dash of salt and pepper. There’s no wrong answers, unless you try fish. Then it can get dicey.

candy corn casserole is the best.

Don’t be gross. But also, as I mentioned before, Sendryn’s recipe where you melt candy corn into peanut butter and then coat with chocolate isn’t terrible. We can bake this monstrosity and have hope.
