Hang my head in shame

The second time that I have done so poorly that I feel a deep sense of shame. I have had bad days, but this is my second and my worst day. I hate being carried and the poor group just did that and I am debating to forgo loot chest for a week. The lock who had the key was mad at me and I do not blame him.

I am just might as well skip the loot box on Tuesday as punishment. Plus I’m going to run a ton of mythic zero-till I get right the mechanics. Dying 10 times is very unacceptable for me. Rant off.

You don’t learn squat from succeeding all the time.

Good you’re willing to put in the legwork to improve. Keep on that.

Before anything: All that self-degradation - stop that. If you don’t know mechanics, then as you said you would, run dungeons. That’s how you master them. Downloading the DBM addon also helps tremendously as it tracks powerful abilities and warns that they’re coming. Everybody that dungeons or raids uses this.

Also, drop that legendary. If you’re running Mythic Keystones, then the legendary you’re using (The Mad Paragon) isn’t optimizing your gameplay as it focuses on single-target damage, and is only notably effective when running Venthyr. For Keystones, you want Tempest of the Lightbringer.

I want you to listen to this until you find the strength to continue.

Don’t skip out on your loot either.

Today you die 10 times, tomorrow you die nine. Just keep going

And loot the vault, good gear helps.

It’s okay to admit you weren’t playing your best and should work on your game a bit. It’s not okay to forget this is just a GAME. No one is going to die (for real) if you mess up. Do some remedial practice if that’s what you feel will help, but don’t “punish” yourself by skipping your loot.

Now, if you were just being ironic because you think poor players should come to the forums and make posts like this, you should maybe post on a troll.

Nope. I have been looking over logs and seeing how to improve. I take my DPS seriously if playing on someone else’s dime. Otherwise, I just out to have fun. Got to keep looking and trying to improve.

a couple of things:

  1. everyone has bad days
  2. everyone has done poorly in a dungeon at some point
  3. everyone makes mistakes
  4. NOT everyone recognizes when they’re underperforming
  5. NOT everyone actively works to improve their damage output
  6. NOT everyone looks through logs to try to figure out what they can do to play better

so honestly? kudos to you for recognizing that you weren’t playing well, and doing those things to improve since it’s something you care about.

Don’t skip a loot box as some sort of punishment, that won’t accomplish anything. What will accomplish things is to do what you’re already doing - recognize a problem and take steps to correct it.

Stop that negative self talk. You fine.

I know it’s hard to stop that negative side of your brain. But seriously cut some of that out okay?

Was it the inventor Thomas Edison that, when asked about his failure, replied, “I didn’t fail. I found 10,000 ways that don’t work.”

Everyone has bad days, don’t sweat it.

But first and foremost, you’re a Necro paladin. Might I suggest you switch to Kyrian?

I know it might not be your first choice lore-wise or whatever, but it is a HUUUUUUUUUGGGEEEE DAM difference for Ret (and is quite fantastic for both of your other specs as well).

I would rather have someone in my party that feels bad about messing up 15 times, than someone who messes up 3 and cant admit it was their fault.

The first step to getting better is knowing you were bad to begin with.
