Handynotes

Was it a part of the addon removal? Did not truly think it was part of the list.

Handynotes TWW is updated for 12.0.0, so that just needs updated.

Handynotes Midnight is in beta.

All the legacy ones will need updates but I’m sure the dev has more pressing issues with making sure the TWW & Midnight ones are ready to go.

Addon is going nowhere :dracthyr_a1: :+1:

handy notes are not combat add ons just help people that dont like going to websites to find stuff same as tom tom

To be clear: Addons that are not combat related are still being affected.

EXAMPLE:

Plumber includes a Macro ability that can turn a macro into a Flyout Drawer, so you can place all sorts of things in them. I had all the Pet stuff I use, like each Pet and Tame beast etc, in such a drawer. It did not work when I was in combat.

One thing that was mentioned was that due to the changes in the system all addons must be up to date, you can no longer load out of date addons. Many of the authors are doing what they can to keep them up but it is a process that involves time for them. The ones that do it for a living or part of one will probably have there’s up very quickly but the ones who make them for just love of the game but have to earn a living else where may take some more time.

Handynotes is definitely a special case as it is a framework that allows plug-ins from other authors. I have the main and probably about 10 other addon authors with the plug ins, some of them may no longer even be playing the game and not updating any longer. We’ll just have to see how it goes as time goes by.

There is a trick where you can edit the version value in a text file of the addon, but I dunno how. I have not used it because only two addons I used were not up to date.

Open file explorer, navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft\_retail_\Interface\Addons and then look for folders that have the same name as ones the game flags as Incompatible. Open them and look for a file ending in .toc You may need to open the View section of the File Explorer window ribbon and tick the box to “Show file extensions.” Open the toc(s) in Notepad and add , 120000 to the line beginning with #Interface Save and close the file(s). You may need to repeat this process for toc(s) in subfolders the addon contains. Then in game, open the menu, open the addons dialog, and ensure the addon has a check. If not, check them and allow your UI to be reloaded by the dialogthat opens. Otherwise, open chat, type /reload press enter and wait for the load screen to go away.

HN mods for expansions/regions (Draenor/Legion/WotLK) made by Zarillion and Kemayo are updating as they finish them.

I expect updates for the Festival ones by Taraezor and Ravendwyr to be done when the festival becomes available and they can actually troubleshoot any errors.

Others would depend on the author, do they have time and are they still updating at all?

City mods by Dathwada (Valdrakken, Oribos, etc) are now also updating.

I’ve been through this several times before; ‘though granted this IS the first time Blizzard has disconnected the “Load-out-of-date-addons” button. But after any major patch with addon functionality changes, don’t start panicking until after at least 2 weeks.
