Hammer of Light bug?

I’ve absolutely had over 1.3mil crits with HoL in PvP lol.

And whats the Average HoL damage in a BG. My Ret is Vers/Haste/tiny bit of Mastery to be improved on with conquest gear, and nearly no crit. If you crit often, how much haste do you have? Ive got every enchant there is regardless of price and dont see 1.3 crits on players with HoL. You might have more mastery and less haste than I.

This thread is funny… look guys, you’re either:
a) it’s a bug
b) it’s not a bug

I’m with a), but what matters is what Blizz says.
I’m just disappointed that no clarification has come in from Blizz, so players would stop arguing at least.

Didn’t justify it… Just making the point your… it bricks 3/4 of the talent tree is hyperbole.

I do want you to know I had an open mind. I really wanted to know if I was missing something.

Just now? lol.

Again if it’s reverted I’ll be just fine. I’m worried about your mental health if it isn’t. You’re this upset about the discussion alone, even when someone believes its a fair/reasonable position to take that this is a bug and will be reverted. What happens if it isn’t? :grinning:

You will be fine either way I promise.

I for one would support one HoL use so long as fv gets its damage back and feels good to press

Basically your taking pride as a dent

Please this!

I’m waiting for it to be reverted tomorrow, cause of few days it existed has been horrible here and in the classcord. I’m tired of seeing people try and justify this and whine that “it makes ret better” when the issue is that it lets poor players have less of a skill ceiling then before.

First off You’re*, secondly I dont know what you mean by dent.

If the tool tip is correct and matches what we already have in the game for functionality, I am both correct and pleased. If I’m wrong, even though I can read and comprehend the tool tip successfully and Blizzard changes their mind, I’ll say I was wrong in case that makes others feel good. If on October 9th if tool tip and functionality does not make 1 WoA = 1 HoL, I continue to be more right than some folks here and might be childish enough to gloat.

Everyones got their theory crafting hats on ready to tell Blizzard they both programed the game wrong and typed the tool tip wrong instead of focusing on processing what their eyes see.

Don’t sweat it, anyone that’s been around a while has been wrong a time or two. The tooltip is the only reason anyone thinks this might be a bug fix instead of a bug introduction. Lots of bugs for Ret since launch let alone PTR, been a bit sloppy.

I was expecting to hear someone say, “I prefer Final Verdict do lots of damage and don’t want to be stuck having all my damage tied up with Hammer of Light as its range is low”

Thats a complete sentence that has valid logic, solid reasoning that I agree with and I would have gave that a heart and moved on.

Instead Blizzard made new ability, made it not do what the tool tip said, changed the ability to match the tool tip and be closer in damage output to the other hero tree option for Ret. And players want the tool tip changed and the ability reverted, how bout no.

I’d have to run a BG and pay attention to it. But I feel like I hit 700k-800k normal hits pretty frequently if the enemy doesn’t have any CD’s up. Crits are almost always over 1mil, especially when buffed and I just had a 1.6mil hit a few minutes ago on a rogue, though he may have not been geared or I just had enough crusade stacks ramped up. Wasn’t paying much attention.

Stat prio in pvp should be vers/mastery then crit or haste imo. I feel like haste shouldn’t be so high in priority considering its pvp and you get plenty of haste from your tree (I think thats changing tomorrow? I need to go back over the talent changes).

This is clearly a bug. If WoA has a 30s CD and I can spend 24s of that in HoL (regular use and a 60 LD)? Yeah, not working as intended. It’s wild the lengths people will go to to justify this being intended gameplay. It’s not even fun. I don’t use any other abilities for the vast majority of my rotation. As prot, I can pop bastion and spam HoL every other GCD. This is a joke and will be fixed.

Seems like it just got hotfixed because its suddenly back to once per wake

Can confirm, was just hotfixed. Thought it was intended. I was actually competing with arcane mages 9 ilvl lower than me in dungeons. I was actually competing with warriors in bgs. Back to herald. Templar broken now that dawnlight scales off mastery. Blizz sucks

Bro unbelievable that even with this bug, herald was still better in all forms of pvp, yet they still wanna hotfix this

plus the “bugged” version was way more fun

Wish Blizzard would actually play their own game for once, just awful balance team

well, i noticed too, but i was running some dungeons, and its currently back to what it was, cast wake of ashes, use hammer of light once, switches back to wake of ashes and enters cooldown…guess we cant have fun :frowning:

I don’t see how anyone thinks that’s fun. Except if topping damage is your only metric for fun. There’s better ways to improve our damage that don’t involve breaking a keystone ability and neutering most class abilities.

Up until about an hour ago i could use it as many times in 12 sec as i could get 5 holy. Average of 3, occasionally 4. Relogged a bit ago and seems to be to only one use now like they just patched it maybe. No idea, but its def not use as many times anymore. It was aweome though, hit a judgemnt followed by wake, then hol, divine toll and another hol lol def felt broken.

I understand how this would be annoying as prot, when you want to be casting SoV for defensive buffs but you feel like you need to spam all your holy power into HoL

However for ret, it’s so nice to have a holy power spender that feels like it actually does something and actually moves my enemies health bar for once. Templar/Final verdict has been hitting like a wet noodle for the last 3 or 4 expansions unless you stack every modifier possible on top of it. The “bugged” version of HoL was very fun as ret.
