Halp! Frost Immunitiy?

I have noticed there are many frost immune mobs in Lich King areas. Now that all fire abilities have been removed from a frost mage how am I supposed to attack them? Respec? Or is this an issue that hasn't been addressed?

Which mobs? Maybe staff it to death. I miss frost fire bolt. Also, this whole specialization for mages was done wrong. We should have control over all spells, with specialty only buffing your preferred spec with new abilities and damage increases.

Are you sure they're immune to the whole spell and not just the snare? If a mob is snare immune and you toss a frostbolt at it you will see "immune" but it will still take the damage.

I had to kill Rocknar in Borean Tundra and it was immuned to my frost spells, so I had to beat it with my staff but my weapon attack power is not up to snuff. Fortunately, a kind feral kitty came along while I was 'kiting' Rocknar all the way to Un'pe and helped me kill it. If was more experienced with wands, then I could just use fire wand on it.

I thought they removed spell resistances after Naxx, or was that a little later? Either way, it seems extremely odd that there would still be some mobs immune to specific damage types given that all the mobs from MC onwards had that resistance removed...

Ticket Blizzard imo. Maybe then they'll change us back to what Kieko suggested, where we know all spells but have an affinity (extra damage) to one type. You know, like it was for 11 years.

Okay, I was able beat the Corrupted Ragers to death with my staff. I acquired a fire wand and was able slowly wand it to death. In my combat logs, it only show me doing melee damage with my staff or shooting fire damage with the wand. It does not show any frost damage that I'm doing to these elementals. The word 'immune' flashes on screen every time I use any frost spells.

Definitely had this issue with a few quests while leveling through Northrend awhile ago. I just ran away and switched specs.

If it makes you feel any better, mobs that are immune to drain life/soul on my affliction warlock have been far more numerous and irritating. Sure do love these 5man dungeon mobs that I can't do anything to. I'll just be over here jumping around in circles, guys.

Okay, now I remember when I leveled up a frost mage back in Cata. I couldn't use Frost Spells on these guys, so I would use Frostfire Bolts which disappeared from this game.

That could be why I don't remember them, WotLK was so so long ago (oh wow, it really was 8 years ago...). Just another reason why Mages should never have lost spells from other schools of magic (we just should have attuned ourselves to make one school stronger).

Either way, it still seems extremely odd that Blizzard would still have mobs in the game that are immune to certain types of damage.

It's probably an oversight on their part. Since they've stupidly spec-locked all our spells, they at least have made changes to take away resistances and immunities from most old-world mobs that had them. Sapphiron for example used to have heavy frost resistance and that's gone now.

Just ran into this today. Corrupted ragers in Dragonblight immune to all frost damage. I was like....wtf? Have never seen this before. This has to be an oversight.

Nope. There's a side quest that makes you fight a cold-immune elite too.

Rocknar is still frost immune.
