Had my first Authenticator Request that wasn't me

What now?

Was over a friends place and I got a Authenticator Request from someone with characters from an Asian Language - I don’t know which one. I denied it. But what should I do now?

change your password

not sure what you mean by “authenticator request”?

if it was someone asking you to go to a website to verify your account (or some such rubbish) just report it and move on.

There is an app you can download and set it so you have to approve someone logging in. I have my kids’ account set up that way. That reminds me I need to get on them for not playing more often.

The mobile app will ask you to approve or deny a log in request. I think its if its a new device or location that triggers it because its triggered on myself logging into a new phone or tablet

Change your password, and also your email may be compromised so make a new email and don’t use it for anything but WoW and switch your account over to it. Apparently there have been a bunch of accounts getting hacked lately.

OH! ok, i was still pre-coffee.

kind of sounds like the pc they logged into at their friends house may have some nasties on it.
might be best if they don’t do a password change while they’re on that computer.

That sounds like some Bizarro World parenting compared to the stereotype I grew up with.

“Timmy, what do you think you’re doing?”
“I finished my homework and was just going to play some ball with my friends.”
“No way mister. You’re still only Friendly with Mechagon. Get back inside.”
“But Moooom…”
“No ‘buts’! Now you put that ball down and start grinding! I don’t want you logging off until you’re all caught up! I don’t want to see a single WQ or daily left!”

Good idea…and no worries

Just change your user information and scan any computer that you use to access your account from. They can’t get in as long as you have the authenticator on it.

If they know your login and password, your PC might have been hacked. Your authenticator protected your account so that’s good. Make sure your PC is free from malware. Then change the password.

Might also be a good idea to secure anything else you find important. Bank accounts, credit cards ect. Any information you have used or stored on your computer can be and probably is compromised.

Heck, I publish my SS# on major websites and use 12345 as my password.

I am hoping someone steals my identity so I can yell “NO TAKEBACKS”

LOL right? My credit score is so low if someone stole my identity I think they would actually increase my score. They would be doing me a favor.

Like peeps be sayin lad, change that password. Make it something really long and really stupid, write on a notepad or sticky note so ya don’t forget. Might look into your email password too, never know if they got into that as well. Do a virus scan on your computer too, incase there’s anything on there.
