I know a lot of people hate titanforging, and who could blame them, it's RNG on top of RNG on top of RNG. It sucks. My idea is that they keep it, and lower the chance of it happening, but, they add another currency that drops from every kind of content that can be used to titan forge your gear. The harder the content, the more currency you get. The higher the base ilvl of the gear, the more it costs to upgrade. Something along the lines of doing a raid 2 times will let you titanforge 1 piece of gear of that level. Or maybe 10 heroic dungeons to titanforge heroic dungeon gear.
This idea might have even been said before, but I'm not about to search through all of the forums to see.
I guess it would be similar to something they already did with valor at the end of WoD.
I have a better idea if they insist on keeping TF.
Things should not be able to TF higher or to the same ilvl as content the next tier up.
So LFR would cap at 350, normal at 365 etc.
Then Mythic tier doesn't TF at all. You get what you get.
Also take out random sockets. Just have it like you did in MoP, maybe limited to one socket per item, but no randomness.
Remember TF was created as a crutch to help people finish bosses they couldn't down by outgearing them. That's an option that shouldn't exist in Mythic raiding.

The already lowered it.
Even if I only do 5-man normal dungeons, I'd like to know that the gear that drops is the BEST gear I could have gotten.
When something does not Titanforge, I don't feel good. I hate the system.
I had a similar idea with a random "magic bling coin" that would drop. When used on a item of your choice it would add a random warforge/titanforge/bonus stat/slot. (once used on the item that item can no longer be upgraded by the magic bling coin.)
This way you can use your "magic bling coin" on the gear you like. Just make the "Magic bling Coin" rare and harder to get, to compensate for the fact that it will always be awesome when you get one.
Keep the "magic bling coin" then remove the random warforge/titanforge/bonus stat/slot off the gear. Then the strategy becomes using the rare "magic bling coin" on the right gear.
Make the "Magic Bling Coin" capable of dropping in any cashe, just a low drop rate.

You get my vote. Would feel more rewarding to work towards a goal than hope RNG likes you today. The excitement of a Mcforge wears off pretty quick and not getting a Mcforge feels disappointing. I'll take the satisfaction of achieving a goal over the "thrill" of gambling any day.

That sounds similar to what they did in MoP. I loved it. You knew what you were getting (IF you got the drop). You knew how far you could stretch it... And with reforging you could customize a tad to hit those soft caps.

ok. Cool.

No. Random is bad.
To be honest, the only part of the forage system I cant stand is the damn gem slots. Any warforge or titanforge should automatically add a gem slot.
A Titanforge on a 325 piece of gear you don't need to a 350 piece you still don't need is like a waste of a titanforge. If 98% of your titanforges happen on things you don't want it's like the system is mocking you.
It feel's like a tray of "chocolate chip" cookies that turns out to be raison cookies.

10/26/2018 12:13 PMPosted by Hamstar10/26/2018 12:03 PMPosted by SacrosànctSo LFR would cap at 350
That is called "warforging".
Under this system warforge would get 5 ilvls, titanforging would get you ten.
That's it. No gear should be better than the base level of gear from the tier above it.

I like this, and I agree with the random sockets being kinda bs. The main thing I have against it, wouldn't it not being able to be as high as the next tier go against what you say is the reason it exists?

Wouldn't it feel better if you had a guaranteed something to look forward to like this currency I'm suggesting? I know it would still kinda suck that other people can get luckier than you, but THAT has been a thing since vanilla.
The main thing I don't like about this is that it's still another chance to happen, with a random outcome. It's not a bad idea, I just feel like peoiple having a guaranteed something to look forward too is a better idea.10/26/2018 12:16 PMPosted by MargiritaI had a similar idea with a random "magic bling coin" that would drop. I wasn't around for MoP, but I've heard about reforging and I love the idea.

I would have quoted the rest of your post, but it was a bit superfluous.
You see, this already existed:
It was called Justice/Valor and Honor/Conquest
The best part? It wasn't super hard to get!
You got it for running dungeons, raids, BGS, arenas, etc.
You could use it to improve your gear, or buy better gear if the drops weren't being kind to you. This was on top of reforging.
But the devs got rid of it in wod in favor of more metric padding RNG timesink grinds.
MoP really was better in so many ways.
I really really don't understand the hate with TF..
For me all I can see is people getting pissed at other people getting lucky once in a while..
TF is a incentive for people who want it to repeat content in the hopes of getting better gear.
If wasn't for TF most people wouldn't bother with most of the content.
It's not like having TF is taking anything away.
You people just hate the idea that a LFR dude may once in a while get a heroic-equivalent piece of gear thanks to TF on LFR or maybe normal, but you forget that these people will sometimes get that while you'll be getting the equivalent to it without TF on your heroic and mythic raiding far more often, and if you consider that this gear can also TF you'll most likely be getting gear that LFR and most casuals won't ever do.
Complaining about TF is nothing but elitism, dicks who want only them to have the best gear and screw everyone else.
Edit: just to be clear, I am not talking about the OP, but these people who insist that TF is what is ruining the game.
