H Nexus King Phase 1 Tank mechanic

Does anyone have an actual good strat for dealing with this mess?

EDIT/Update: After way too much research I found the solution.

There are 4 total tank combos. Every pattern will allow both tanks to only take 2 of each attack. Each combo requires 3 taunt swaps and they must be done during the cast of the first 3 attacks.

If either tank misses a swap at least one tank is going to take a lot of damage at least once. If the soak is missed it may be multiple times that a tank has to take extra damage.

Taunt swap after the frontal, put the circle in the raid with some healing cds. People who feel confident with their survival can take 2 hits, otherwise people take 1 per set and try to split whos soaking 1st or 2nd of each combo.

Do you know the fight? What you are getting is random and you have to taunt before you know what is coming if you don’t want the other tank to take 2 of the same ability. If you swap all the time sometimes one tank misses out on soaks and is forced to just stand in them anyway.

I’ve never seen the pattern not go soak, frontal, frontal, soak. It’s not supposed to ever change from that.

It can go in different orders. Offtank just has to taunt during the main tank’s frontal cast?

Thats on normal. On heroic it is fully random.

If you only taunt on the frontal cast then often one of the tanks is missing soaks while the other is taking too many.

If Heroic follows the way Mythic works, then it isn’t 100% random, because you always know that the third cast is opposite the first. But of all the orders I saw during Liquid’s prog on Salhadaar, there doesn’t seem to be any reason not to just assume you should taunt for every single attack in the combo. It’s what they did regardless of order so that the same tank always ended up with the boss after each specific combo.

The closest order to not requiring a taunt on every cast is Conquer->Conquer->Vanquish->Vanquish because the tank which taunted to take the second Conquer can likely take the first Vanquish safely. I’d presume two Vanquishes first also follows the same logic.

After hunting through 1209 guides (video and written), random vods and I don’t know how many discords/discussions I found that.

There are only 4 combos possible and none of them will cause a tank to die IF no swaps are missed. It just feels random because there are so many swaps the first few minutes.

Yeah it looks hectic. I’m not even sure he has taunt diminishing returns in P1, because Liquid’s world first kill also had the tanks swapping again before the first cast of the combo (meaning 4 taunts in total were used leading in to and through the combo).
