An Echo of the Firelord
The Farseers of the Horde have felt the elemental plane of fire, the Firelands, surging up into the belly of Blackrock Mountain once again. If what they have foreseen is true, the Dark Iron Dwarves, in search of a weapon to wield against the Horde in the Battle For Azeroth, have resummoned Ragnaros, not quite resurrecting him, but rather bringing his power forth into the world as an elemental echo.
The Horde has given a Farseer the task of recruiting a party to investigate the Blackrock depths and destroy whatever evil lurks in the molten core. However, each party member has a quest of their own. (Think loyalty missions from Mass Effect.) These personal sidequests will create a leveling progression for the party, eventually depositing them at a powerlevel where MC is doable, ready for their final test.

would you mind going into more detail about how this “powerlevel” the party gains from doing these personal quests is determined?
is it like, every personal quest the party does gets them a certain amount of experience?
Should each member of the party design their own “loyalty mission” sidequest? Would that party member be responsible for DMing it?

I used “powerlevel” here as a catch-all term for character level, item level, and consumables, whatever makes a 5-person group able to hold their own in Molten Core. For instance, if the group decides we care about items found in MC, we may intentionally keep the item level of our equipment low, as to make items found there relevant not only ICly but also mechanically. In that hypothetical situation then the group would instead use character level and/or consumables to make up lost ground.
Personal quests would want to tie in with activity that rewards EXP. For example, a disciple of Naralex’s quest could be to wake his master (again) and to study the other oases of the Barrens.
If they want to design and DM, definitely. But my thinking is the sidequest should at least be related to that party member, to give everyone’s character a time to shine.
