From the host of this year's fall Kosh'harg Festival and Horde side's monthly open invitation Kagh'hsk Challenge, the Stormhowl Clan presents another opportunity to bring the tribal community together for more RP shenanigans!
Our clan has been toying with a caravan system for a couple of months now but haven't had the chance to really commit to it until recently.
The Stormhowl Clan, like a few other members of the tribal community on Horde side, are not Horde. They are standalone entities that are either neutral or Horde aligned. They have to rely on themselves to survive. They have to gather their own resources, hunt and grow their own food, defend their homes and territories and so on. Survival is the name of their game.
The Stormhowl has a job/role in which members can choose from called Provisioners. Provisioners travel around to help clansmen find rare or hard to obtain resources outside of Northrend, which is our clan's stomping grounds and thus have a focus on the caravan system, or will once we develop it more.
One of our members recommended opening it up to others of the tribal community (clans, tribes, warbands) to promote some interguild RP and encourage impromptu RP in the open world. No push for alliances or anything of the sort, just a system that'll allow a reasonable and immersive interaction to take place with no IC agenda or goal other than to create a trade network between these groups to make resources more available and share cultures.
How the caravan will work is that a Provisioner (will encourage non-clansmen to take up the duty as well) are the DMs and help organize the caravan. They create the hunts, quests, etc catering to the target region. Each week a new target destinatin, with each day being set in a new zone (or possibly multiple days in the same zone) between the start amd finish. Monday will be the start and Saturday will be the end of each caravan. During this time characters are "locked" to the caravan. Sunday will "unlock" them and allow them to return to their respective groups with acquired resources, trophies (our Clan takes trophies from kills) and a cut of the IC profits. This will operate strictly on a voluntary basis with no forced commitment for a single character to attend even caravan. It'll be great for alts that aren't RPed very often to have some spotlight.
Not only will this encourage the tribal community to come together to interact and learn about the different clans, tribes, etc, around Azeroth, but also promote more impromptu RP in the open world.
Caravan events will NOT be scheduled and will operate strictly on impromptu RP catered to the region of the day. Such as helping a town fend off raiders in Stonetalon or helping the Cenarion Circle replenish the trees in Hyjal or any number of fun and interesting things we can do during this time.
Now, once a month we can have a summit for all of the participating groups to come together to share news and their cultures to learn more about those who they are trading with, which we can and will likely be held after the Kagh'hsk which is the third Friday and Saturday of every month. Come, mingle, share in what their clans- and tribesmen returned with, give reports on which routes may be dangerous and so on. Again, not to make alliances, just trade, share news and updates and learn about the cultures of others.
I would love to see this happen. It'd be a great opportunity to have some fun interactions and build some strong connections between characters and tribes alike.
There's a +1! Glad you liked it and that would be the point!
One of my clansmen, Morzog, reminded me that they wanted to implement some Oregon Trail features into the Caravan. Giving each one starting supplies, some randomized daily obstacles and non-RPed events (such as the Caravan hitting a bump in the road and is forced to stop, -2 Dec rolls for today or some of the meat had spoiled, X and Y ate it and now they're feeling sick OR an infected swarm of murlocs attacked, those who fail the roll come down with Murlocitis). So at the start of each day, the Provisioner will roll to see what obstacles and events happen in the background and their effects that day.

This is a cool idea. Anything that brings people out into the world to RP is fantastic.
Good luck with it!

Interesting...
You are having the actions/ random events on the move in a caravan looking formation, no? Or do you mean we basically interact with you as if the caravan has made it's stop and we are picking up a quest?

That hasn't been determined yet, as far as if we RP moving the Caravan or just saying we transitioned from A to B where X event happened to stop us.
And not so much quest giver as much as it's DMed events, which will be up to the Provisioner in Charge. So it can be quest-ish (go help X with Y or find materials to fix the wagon, etc) or as simple as repelling a raid on the caravan.

Understood.
Bump!
After a discussion tonight, a guildy suggested that a leveling aspect be included in some of the Caravans. In that, characters can join in if they're in the area, RP while out and about and so on.
So there may be a primary, RP dedicated crew, but also a secondary, more drawn out 'leveling' group RPing too.
