[H/A-RP Event] The Northern Campaign, Jul 26th - Aug 16th

The Northern Campaign is a cross-faction RP event that will span the weeks of July 26th → August 16th (with optional RP-PvP battles taking place across 5 major strategic locations as the campaign progresses) which will see Horde and Alliance forces vie for dominance over the northern reaches of the Eastern Kingdoms. Each faction will viciously clash for resources and territorial control in areas such as (but not limited to) Andorhal, Aerie Peak, Fenris Isle, the Alterac Mountains, Durnholde Keep, South Shore, the Sludge Fields, Silverpine Forest, and Gilneas.

Time: July 26th → August 16th, with major events occurring between 5PM and 9PM server time at various intervals.

Location: Northern Eastern Kingdoms (Silverpine Forest, Gilneas, Hillsbrad Foothills, Western Plaguelands, the Hinterlands, and Arathi Highlands).

War Mode: Off (except for on arranged RP-PvP major conflict days. You may of course flag yourself and do battle with the opposing faction at any time.)

The Horde War Council (a collection of some of WrA Horde’s veteran and highly engaged RP guilds) has already organized a good portion of our side of the campaign - through the process of rigorous debate at a council meeting. ICly we are set to deploy, and OOCly, we have come up with the following for the campaign:

– There will be an ‘RP hub’ for the Northern Campaign, where Horde forces can gather and RP about what their organizations are pursuing, drink together and tell tales of the war, etc., (I recommend the Alliance establishes such a hub as well, but it is not necessary) and individual guilds may find their own bases / encampments in the region for their individual organizations. The Horde has access to the Tirisfal Glades portal at the Orgrimmar Zeppelin tower, and the Alliance has only a short flight from Ironforge, the Twilight Highlands cataclysm portal, or the Arathi war front portal (when it is up) for getting to and from the RP campaign’s location.

– Each guild will be pursuing strategic objectives (there will be objectives posted in the Northern Campaign Discord, but you are free to pursue your own missions) in a variety of regions. This is essentially an opportunity to create a series of roll-20 events for your guild to pursue and attribute to the war effort’s success. You are encouraged post screenshots and a summary of what your guild is up to in the campaign Discord, and will be awarded points for activity, that will then be used to grant rewards to those who participated heavily in the BFA rp community’s first war campaign. We already have guilds on the Horde charting out events such as disrupting supply lines, or engaging in nefarious activities in and around the Sludge Fields, etc.

(Lore for what is occurring in Lordaeron / surrounding areas since the Battle for Lordaeron, in case you should need the inspiration for roll-20’s, etc.):

– Roll battles between either faction, utilizing Elixir of Tongues and the Northern Campaign’s Discord server roll-bot will be used to allow conflict between RPers across faction who do not wish to partake in the PvP aspect of things, yet want to engage on the war front with enemy players.

– There will be a best 3/5 ‘major battles’ for the RP-PvP aspect of the campaign. For these battles we will match numbers, including the number of healers, etc. in order to make these clashes approximately as fair and balanced as possible (all in the name of good fun!). These ‘major battles’ will take place in pivotal, grandiose locations across the campaign’s front, such as the summer-snow dusted peaks of Alterac, inside the island fortress of Fenris Keep, and even in the streets of Gilneas City. Each ‘major battle’ will be determined by a best 2/3 RP-PvP battle between the Horde and the Alliance, with a brief period of time between each battle to adjust your strategy (a matter of minutes), along with a small change in location (i.e: if the Horde is being pushed back, we may be pushed to the keep’s gate for the second battle, etc.).

For more information, whisper or mail Tyrathor on Hordeside - would be happy to have a chat with you about any concerns you have. We are truly looking to RP out some of the faction war, make some new friends (even if they are ICly enemies), and have some fun!

And of course, should any Alliance be interested in engaging in further campaigns on differing fronts in the future (Northrend for Azerite shipping lanes, supplies for ships, etc.), storylines could continue. Perhaps one of you may be renowned as the hero who struck down the ruthless, terrible, horrifying and inordinately handsome Warlord Tyrathor Blightbane!

This sounds exciting! A couple of questions, what are the rules of engagement in the RP-PvP portion?

Such as Battle Resurrections, Heroism/Bloodlusts, Flying, Banners etc. Are any of those permissible? We’re interested if there are any rules to adhere to during the RP-PvP battles!

The short version (we have rules set out in the Northern Campaign Discord for those interested, perhaps it would be wise of me to post them here): Bres, Lust/Warp/Hero, banners, flasks, food, runes, and non-arena abilities such as ‘Lay on Hands’ or ‘Army of the Undead’ are all permissible. Flying is not allowed - it will be all on the ground. We have strict policies for no ganking, killing after the fight, etc.

That being said, if people want an ‘arena rules’ style fight for one or multiple of the battles that will be had, we can arrange for that to happen if it is requested! It’s all in good fun, we’re very easy going and just want things to be fair and enjoyable for all!

Hey,

For the no ganking rule, if war mode is off and individuals have flagged up—how will it be ganking at that point? They have flagged.

For the no flying rule, is that event wide, or only for the individual battles?

How do you expect to enforce these rules, and what will happen to individual rule breakers?

Eastern Kingdoms is so passé. I already took Stromgarde and killed Turalyon and everything. It’s lore, guys.

Specifically for the organized battles, the best ‘3/5’ thing, we don’t want someone par se seeing an enemy player respawn in the ‘grace period’ while they are rebuffing etc., for the next battle - and then swooping down and killing them.

The no-flying is for the individual battles as well. My guild personally won’t be flying around, we like to keep things on the ground, as does much of our war council, but that’s just up for people to decide.

Everything else - getting killed with a flag on in the open world, etc. is all fair game.

Individual rule-breakers will be granted a warning, and then if it happens again they will be asked to leave the campaign. We’re really not looking to make a lot of rules here for the open world adventure style of it! If people are flagged they’re flagged and open to PvP’s consequences, it’s moreso for the organized events we just want to enforce the rule of no, par se, flying up onto a ledge or killing someone in between minor battles when we’re trying to set up.

The Fortyseventh Infantry Regiment of the Alliance Army stands ready to defend our land against the Horde Army’s finest.

We look forward to interacting with you in any way possible and contributing to the success of the overall campaign!

The roster is building, and the campaign starts soon! Glad to have the Fortyseventh, and everyone else who has signed up so far! There’s still time for others to message me and get in on the campaign! Please feel free to do so!

This sounds crazy. I hope it works out.

If I’m around, my hunter may show up and aid the alliance.

I’d be quite nervous about participating myself, especially when PvP is involved. Feels like most neutral events end up quite dominated by the Horde due to the imbalance on WRA.

We’ve had a good time so far! If anyone wants to come arrange events in the campaign, let us know, we have tons of RP-PvP planned and are arranging a lot of roll stuff as well. Already done a massive amount of roll stuff this weekend, was a great deal of legendary shenanigans and fun!

This is such a neat concept! If it were closer to the Thalassian Pass, it could have been fun to have Farstriders, etc making sure no one gets too close to Quel’Thalas!

You should contact me! If you’re interested in stuff like this whether it be in this campaign, or in the future, we’d have a damn fun time engaging in some battles to protect the causeway to Silvermoon! Also, the Horde War Council organizes stuff like that quite often!

Hello Tyrathor! Even though I am a bit late to the game, I have put your event up on the event calendar - I hope you don’t mind. It’s a tool I created a while ago to help folks find events easier and to help us event runners to coordinate. I hope you find it useful!

If you don’t want your event on there let me know. Good luck with your event!

Thank you very much Lindiwe! I am very pleased as to the activity both RP wise and OOC wise that the campaign has created, and I am most appreciative of any efforts to boost the fun! Very cool!
