Which did it better and smoother? In terms of dragonriding mechanics.
Hang on. My Doritos are around here somewhere…
Super Mario 64 minus flying on a dragon
GW2 has a superior mount system and better PVP.
That’s it tho. Rest of the game is trash compared to gw1
I bought GW2 and have technically been playing it for two years but I don’t know how to get the flying dragon. I read a guide that said it could take months and shelved the idea
I think WoW did a great job of it, personally. It’s very fun. If they made vigor a race-only mechanic, I think it would be the most enjoyable way to fly around.
Gw2 is grind for looks not gear. And flying is locked behind paywall, also a big grind to obtain mount.
ArenaNet could be great. If they escape the clutches of NCSoft.
That or add more tornadoes to help regain vigor faster like the ones in DR dungeon. I noticed when I’m grabbing these glyphs that’s at the top of a peak I’m waiting for it to refill.
Well… not so much the mechanics in my book it’s the fact you truly feel you’ve earned the mounts in guild wars 2 and unlike WoW Guild wars 2 gives players boats they can drive around and summon when they please and they even boost fishing skill. GW2’s dragon can also be used anywhere where as the dragons we got from dragonriding are bound to dragon isles. They’re both fun don’t get me wrong but… GW2 wins in my book as of the boats more so than the dragon mechanics. Being able to drive the boat around, drop anchor and just have boosted fishing to relax for hours on end is so nice. I can even park it and leave it there for a moment while I take the dragon to shore to restock my bait lol
First, we are comparing their dragon systems. Boat system has no relevance here.
The limitation about where we can use Dragonriding can change anytime. This is a test. If majority of the players likes it, they will expand for the rest of the game.
Also, GW2 system take to many time and grind to unlock, and to make it worse, all costumization are behind paywall.
I HATE GW. Screw that entire franchise. They release an expansion called “End of Dragons”?
The people who made that game should take LTG’s advice… NOW!
Once everything is maxed. As long as you know how to manage vigor you can go straight up while using only one vigor over and over.
GW2.
The only thing good about GW2 & the mounts/flying in it, is that they took inspiration from Spyro
i did it in about 4 days as f2p. you’ve both been severely misinformed
two things that gw2 did well were the grind, and the option to use either mount. the skyscale grind was great as a new player because it took me all over the game, and showed me things i wouldn’t have seen otherwise. you actually raise it yourself and watch it grow into a fire breathing companion
secondly, you can use the skyscale to go up, and the gryphon to go far. dragon riding in wow is fine, but i’d still like the option to use both
gw2 has a worse grinding for mount abilities
World of warcraft did it better and its not even close
No misinformation here bud. Useless you buy steam version then you may get the season to get skylance. Otherwise you have to buy gems to purchase seasons
yeah that’s a good point. at first i read it as a paywall for flying directly, but you do need to buy the living world season, and do that content for skyscale. but i think of both games as a whole. although dragon riding in wow is technically behind a paywall because you have to buy the expansion, i just think of it as part of the game
The dynamic turning radii make the GW2 experience superior. Gives a genuine feel of weightiness to the flying and other mounts. Also the vertical wall-grabbing with Skyscales makes resource management more skill-based rather than just waiting on a timer. That and some of the griffon particle effects in fast flight are awesome.
WoWs flying feels faster, mostly because it doesn’t have any sort of physics. Makes sense considering the respective player bases. WoW=gogogo, GW2=authenticity. Wow’s is really good, but GW2’s experience is still lightyears ahead.
