GW2 mounts are mind blowing

I wish Wow would do something new and fresh. Wow is about as fresh as a stale loaf of bread.
If you haven’t tried GW2. It isn’t perfect, but man. I’m loving it.
Still love Wow, but I’m not stupid, Wow is turning into the fat kid playing tag at recess. Moving too slow to get the job done.

It’s great when you first start playing, eventually you’ll just use the griffon or skyskale and the water mount rarely. I think they lost all uniqueness when they added the flying mounts it kinda defeats the purpose of the others.

I guess this is probably coming across as a wow bash. It sort of is, but GW2 is worthy of bashing also. I just think wow could borrow some cool ideas. I think if wow would add a little more of GW2 world immersion and something with mounts. and I’m not really talking about the mount gear we already have. That is feeling like an ignored system.

If blizz put more than 1% of effort into open world and made it like gw2 wow would be godmode

At this point I don’t even feel it is possible. Its kind of like Blizz has made their bed and we have to lay in it. Unless Wow 2 comes, I just don’t see much major changing. Its making a lot of money. I think a lot of people like me that have been complaining about wow truly care about it. It used to mean more to me. Still does, but feeling like a distant memory.

I don’t think it’s a WoW bash. IMO mounts is something that GW2 does better than any MMO on the market. I would kill to have that kind of thing in any of the other ones I play, they’re stupidly fun to travel around on. I’ll log in sometimes just to fly around lion’s arch. The variety in mount skins is nice too, and being able to dye them. I would never expect that to be added to WoW though obviously.

I played GW2 when it first launched and I enjoyed it but I didn’t really like the systems it had in place at the time. That was long before mounts. But I did love my Engineer and his freakin’ flamethrower.

Its a tough thing. I give a lot of credit to people that have played since vanilla. Not a whole lot changes. I went out and hit the alt game hard…real hard . atleast for me . I’ve had expansions where I tried my hardest at raiding, had xpacs where i did the same with pvp. Did as well as I probably could. Seen a lot of things in wow.
For people like me there isn’t much that stands out anymore. Helps to play other games, but Wow is home.

I felt the same way, since years ago , when legion destroyed class design for me. I’ve been playing gw2 and eso for years. But both games have trash pvp imo so I can’t main them. I’m an open world pvp / bg hero and that’s a big part of my end game. Both have amazing open world though

I haven’t tried ESO…how is it?
I have to admit, coming from GW2 fluid combat to (Watching youtube of ESO) i wonder about eso’s combat.

GW2 mount system sucks.

no hurt feelings here my man, explain your reasoning

Eso has clunkyish combat but it’s an acquired taste and can grow on you. Has animation canceling and weaving your auto attack (left click) between abilities. It’s a lot different than other mmo rotations I’ll tell you that.

Has a far far better story than gw2 though and hands down the most immersive mmo on the market with everything voice acted and amazing graphics if you’re into the more realistic grounded fantasy look.

cool, that sounds exciting. I have been playing SWOTOR and I’m loving the story there.

I can’t fault WoW, it’s an ooooold MMO at this point. GW2 has a lot of really great features, but I could just never get into it.

Edit: I can’t wait till VR MMOs are a “thing”. Thanks for coming to my drunk Ted Talk.

Some of those features we pine for in other games honestly probably can’t be brought into WoW as it is now. The engine is the oldest among all of them, and it has years of spaghetti code splattered on top of it.

Real talk, I think WoW needs a completely fresh restart with an updated and more modern engine. Then it might be more possible to do what people want.

Still, while I like the idea, it’s hard to imagine it working in a game with 400+ mounts, unfortunately.

If you have played it how fares eso story compared to swtor at least the vanilla content story they had. Loved the selecting to be a light side villain or dark side jedi etc. Gave some personalities to your character more than just gear.

Also not to bombard but opinion on housing? I loved wildstars housing and rift comes a close second. Swtor isnt that good but better than nothing I guess. Gw2 housing is equivalent to wow garrisons with the fact it at least stays relevant to your playing at least.

This would be a great idea, but I dont think they will ever do a full overhaul. If not that then they would have to launch a “WoW 2” type of second game, which would probably just split the playerbase like EQ and EQ2 did.

That being said, the renders of WoW zones in Unreal engine look amazing.

I do not believe the mount system in wow is capable of that . It will be too much work on once aspect of gameplay . GW2 however started building their mount mechanics from inception .

I’ll be honest, I have been playing GW2 since it’s release and I have never once felt the need for a mount. You can teleport nearly anywhere. There some places where the waystones are within sight of each other.
