Guys I am really scared for retail WoW

I leveled on a PVE server in early BC and world PVP was common. All you had to do was flag.

Community was definitely a thing back then I cannot believe you’re attempting to refute that lol. It’s even a thing on beta, people know each other and talk on beta more than they probably have all BfA. You know why? Because the game requires you to interact with players and not treat them like someone you’ll only see once and never again, most people see this as a reason to treat others like crap.

BfA is trying to make a multiplayer game into a solo game which isn’t how MMOs are supposed to be played.

Be very afraid.

Frankly, if you weren’t already scared for retail WoW’s direction, you probably didn’t care that much to begin with.

Classic is the New Shiny.

It will not be the New Shiny forever.

Op,I wouldn’t be scared about it it’s marketing hype,it would die down and everything would be Ok in the end.

You do realize that from a company perspectuve, if both are making money they will invest in both right? The responsibility falls on them to make both compelling not us. If they make a quality existing WoW and Classic both will flurish, we aren’t talking about a finite resource here. They have the money to invest if the products do well. It is a win win, relax.

The only non-guild interaction I ever participated in back in Vanilla was spamming “LFG Deadmines” or “LFG Scarlet _______” over and over. When I got a group I would be polite but only actually say anything if it was necessary, and once the run was over I would completely forget they ever existed within an hour or two.

You felt a sense of community, but I most certainly did not, not in WoW anyway. SWG on the other hand had an entire profession dedicated to building and maintaining player cities. Even the most non-social of players couldn’t help but remember the names of the cities they frequently traveled to, the Player Associations (guilds) that ran them, and the crafters they purchased gear from (for a long time crafted gear was the only decent gear in the game). THAT is a real community, not “oh I think I’ve ran a dungeon with that guy before”.

15 years — its like a first wife, let it go…

Ironically after years of supposed “WoW killers” it might actually take WoW to kill WoW.

So now you guys have changed your game instead of taunting us at how classic is going to outdo retail you’re pretending you’re scared for retail.

This seems to be a you issue. My Friends list was primarily made up of players I met doing 5 mans in Vanilla and TBC.

yeah…I can.
A number of players will go over and play it.
Within a month 90% of them will get tired of not having the conveniences of retail and will come crawling back.
About 10% will play both.

the problem is nostalgia is a hell of a drug. Classic really did suck it was alot like the firs time you had sex. You look back on it with very fond memory but tbh it was awful. You had no idea what you were doing. I think people will fall off the hype train rather fast when they relive just how much classic really did suck. BC and WTLK refined and altered what sucked about classic and made a better retail product.

Don’t be worried, Current World Of Warcraft is not going anywhere.

I am not scared of Current World Of Warcraft dying, It’ll be around for a long time, Some of us don’t need a restart or feel like we have to go backwards in time. Or a dumbed down version of wow.

Exactly.
I went out and bought ALL of the old 60s and 70s cartoons I watched and loved as a kid. Figured my grandkids would love them too.
Whacky Races wasnt what my memories had me believing they were.
Although, I will say that the Flintstones, Jetsons and Hong Kong Phooey were just as I remembered them, so maybe classic has a chance of being loved by some. Especially if its not costing any extra monthly sub fee.

Classic will destroy BFA. Only people who have ADD and need flashy stuff in their faces 24/7 will enjoy it

What if Blizzard comes to my house and beats me up?

WHAT IF!

yeah, god I hope they can keep this dinosaur of an engine up a running with newer software / hardware thats always advancing.
I got a box of old games that wont run on any modern windows rig, which is sad. Such fantastic games in their day. All either old DOS or windows 95 games.
Tried changing the compatibility settings in window. Helps some, but the games have really laggy performance…sound might not work…or they just dont fire up at all.

Hate to see WoW go down that path.
