Guys I am really scared for retail WoW

I realised that. But my point stands, the class uniqueness in classic was aesthetic only. Gameplay wise most of them were one button classes. I will take BFA classes over that any day of the week.

Vanilla was not really so much about the classes as it was about being a RPG. YOu felt like you were actually getting stronger. When you got a good pieces of gear, even a green, you felt the impact of that, it made you feel good. Blizzard lost that a long time ago and tried to replace it with meaningless shiny objects. If they move to a classic TBC and Wrath system, they might as well shut down retail.

If Blizzarrd was smart, they would use Classic as a jumping off point to reboot WOW and undue the changes that were made that caused players to leave. Keep the communities , power progression, and the RPG elements. Add in things that shiould have been done a long time ago like player housing

Tunneling a raid boss sure, most other forms of content you’re using all your abilities unless you don’t know how to play.

Bfa classes are atrocious and class design is a big reason many people cite when they quit this xpac.

There is nothing to develop for classic … no new patch . No class tuning nothing

The hardcore Classic fans will play as much as they ever wanted, while a significant portion of more modern players go back to retail before ever reaching level 60. People who roll a ret Paladin in Classic will be the first to come back, I used to legit fall asleep waiting for my pally to auto-attack a mob to death.

Imagine thinking BfA classes are designed well

I would play classic and maybe even enjoy it, if I could find quest mobs to kill and if I had a ground mount from at least lvl 10.

You really aren’t. I would know, I played then. And acting like the fact that the most difficult content required the least of your class constitutes good game design? Lol Rip.

But muh class design.

Stomps all over classic class design.

Even the most poorly designed spec in BfA is far, far better than Classic Ret:

Judgement
Seal
Auto Attack
Auto Attack
Auto Attack
Auto Attack
Judgement
Seal
Auto Attack
Auto Attack

“coddle me Blizzard”

Then you clearly weren’t that good.

Nothing to be ashamed about, most people back then had 0 clue how to play.

“Don’t waste my time blizzard, needlessly”.

Might actually mean something if the reality wasn’t that most people played with thotbot alt+tabbed.

All that changed is that blizzard ported in that functionality that everyone was using anyway and made it part of the base game.

What makes me laugh is that all these people who theorycrafted over on the private servers and think they figured out how to actually play every spec back in classic, these are the same people who are shocked to find out how many “not a bug” situations there are, and still haven’t grasped that they don’t actually have a clue what classic was really like.

So Classic class design is supposed to be an improvement? Going backwards 15 years to just out of beta class design?

Way to miss the key word there mate, “needlessly”. Which classic had a lot of.

I never played Vanilla, I started in early BC. But at that time, I had spells other classes did not have. I didn’t use them all, all of the time. Detect Undead, Exorcism (only worked on Undead & Demons at the time), Divine Intervention, BOK, others I don’t remember. All stripped, and later they even took away Hammer of Wrath, though it was restored eventually. You could say it was “only aesthetic,” but I wouldn’t agree. And now I mash 3 buttons. Two more buttons doesn’t make me feel better about losing the breadth of utility.

So you think classic is good because you spend 70% of your game time travelling, 25% of your game time waiting for respawns and 5% actually playing.

Yup, that sure was a lot better.
