If they did this then they would need to make all purchased corruption be worse.
The problem is not that gushing is getting nerfed.
The problem is that they only thing gushing needs to be nerfed because now you can actually get it without insane luck.
It is fine for super lucky players to have a ridiculous advantage but not for ones who reliably farm out that exact same power?
This one unholy DK streamer bought a bunch of gushing boes a few days ago for hundreds of dollars. First they make all corruption targetable, then they nerf gushing. You love to see it.

It wasn’t op when corruption launched. It was a middle ground between launch IS, TD, and EV. We never gave stat corruptions a chance to see how they would scale.
If they had tuned them properly it would have been fine.
Instead the dumpstered EV into uselessness. Nerfed IS so that it no longer was the best ST option, despite it literally being designed as the ST corruption and then actually did a good job balancing TD.
All has proved they have no idea what they are doing.

I expect them to do the same excellent job with balancing covenants as they have throughout 8.3 with corruptions and essences.
Of course it will I honestly have little faith in them getting it done some what right the 1st time… I would understand if they get reworked with a 1 to 5% here or there…
But most likely it will be like this 35% here 40% there lol
Agreed, just make it expensive. It needs a nerf and also NEEDED A NERF even before any of this but Blizzard sleeps.

It was most classes BiS forever just obtaining it was almost impossible.
EV was so broken it’s nuts, although probably slightly over nerfed now but TD blows it away.
You have the most insane revisionist history I’ve ever seen.
Only 3-4 of the 24 dps specs in the game can really shine with the stat corruptions over the procs.
Yeah Covenants isn’t looking too hot right now.

We need Legion Legendary Vendors 5.0, we already got 2.0 for Azerite, 3.0 for Essences, and now 4.0 for Corruption.

It’s crazy. They do a great job balancing most of the essences. Then this. Comedy.

And instead of reasonably tuning it, they nerfed it into the dirt. Which was the point of what I said.
Roughly 25% of dps specs scale better. There is nothing wrong with certain specs targeting certain things.
Now, those classes are just op. See fire/ bm.
The classes that favored things like gw or ev because they didn’t benefit as much from the stats are just dead.

I mean I get it, but it kind of showcases the glaring issue with so much RNG as well as the note that they have mentioned that they know how players don’t like things being taken from them. Kind of where “fun detected, fun nerfed” comes from. So if I was a dev in charge of developing corruptions… I would be testing their DPS, having others test their DPS, and seeing if any of them would get out of control and dialing it back BEFORE it got to players, regardless of how rare it would be. That’s how it gets to these places where players will be spitting mad because they found a way to get crazy DPS with less give. Either that or let players roll with it and do better next time. May make other players mad in PvP, but since corruption can be targeted it means it should level things out between players a bit.

Instead of nerfing the damage, and harming ppl who have it, why not just up the corruption? Move it to 25 or so corruption. I mean, same result, yeah, but without hurting us who’d got lucky and had a piece or two?
Or why not have it gain less damage as it stacks?
Or why not just remove it from the vendor? I mean, are you putting all corruptions in, like the raid ones as well? That’d be sweet, but I suspect you’re not. So just leave it out.
