I’m sure it’s been suggested many times, but I think it would be cool to have a pistoleer spec, possibly even make Outlaw the pistoleer spec (since it already has elements like Between The Eyes, etc), changing 1-hand melee weapons to pistols (which Blizz would have to implement). Make the abilities melee to midrange, maybe take the spell name “Trick Shot” from Marksman and make it an AoE for Outlaw where it ricochets to multiple targets.
Neat idea. In my mind it would take some abilities from the Demon Hunter in Diable such as Strafe for AoE.
Weapons: Dual Wield Pistols/Crossbows (one drop would be both main and off hand slots)
Trinkets would be the same as Hunter
AoE: Strafe - Combo Point ability to spin and fire both weapons
CP Generator: Double Shot - Shoot booth weapons
CP Spender: Unload - Spend Combo Points to fire both weapons dealing damage + extra damage per combo point
CP Spender: Poison Shot - Inflict an improved lethal poison doing damage per combo point and dealing poison damage over time.
I always thought since they made Survival Hunter a melee spec, making Outlaw into a ranged dual pistol spec would have made much more sense IMO.
FFXIV online
Wildstar would be a much more appropriate comparison. I also think it would be cool, but personal opinion is just that.
It’s called hunter.
I’d much rather they bring back a hemo swords style build.
Why? Play one of the other gazillion sword-wielding specs or play assassination and mog swords
Because hemo swords was a viable build back in the day.
There’s literally only three one handed sword wielding specs in the game.
Outlaw
SMF Fury
Frost DK.
I play a rogue.
Considering you can’t mog swords to daggers….
They have dagger options that looks like swords, my rogue uses wakizashi type swords.
Ok? I’d rather use my rare sword mogs over some bland vanilla daggers.
They aren’t going to ever make a pistol spec for rogues because hunters exist.
Ok, I don’t like when people say Blizz is “never going to [do something]” because no one knows what they are going to do. I wouldn’t be opposed to making Subtlety a ninja-like sword spec. I just personally like the direction Blizz started going in Legion when they made each spec drastically different that the others and then they turned around and homogenized everything again. I am simply putting ideas out there (even if they have already been suggested).
Ok you have to be realistic.
They aren’t going to make a ranged gun spec when they already have a ranged gun spec.
People like you are also arguing (six years later) that Blizz would never turn Survival into a melee spec…
One. You don’t have to be realistic in a fantasy game where fox people cast magic and fly around on glowy house cats. Two, that argument is like saying no other classes can use a staff because mages use them. In my OP, I specified melee to mid range (pistols are typically effective only short to mid range). I also think that, if say a survival hunter wields a staff or polearm, that it should increase their range while slowing attack speed.
Actually if anything they should have turned BM into the melee spec.
Also look how many people play survival now as they completely destroyed the spec. Most people want old survival back.
You should probably learn the difference between being realistic and having realism.
Being realistic means realizing that they already have a ranged gun spec/class and aren’t going to make a second one.
Having realism means that I would try to say a pistoleer won’t work because handguns don’t have great accuracy at far ranges.
See the difference?
You’re comparing different specs using the same weapon to having two specs based around the same concept. Apples to oranges.
I agree with this, and have actually posted regarding that as well.
You literally don’t seem to understand the flawed logic here and are defeating your own argument. I used mages for example. Mages use a staff and cast magic. They should have never made another staff-wielding caster like shadow priest, warlock, or even shaman because they already have mage. ![]()
I’m not here to argue with people who just want to shoot down ideas. I am just putting it out there. You have have made it clear you don’t like the idea. Thanks for the feedback!
You’re not understanding my point. Having rogues with a pistol spec would be like giving warlocks a frost spec. There is already a class with a frost specialization and they won’t make a second.
You’re confusing weapon type for spec flavor.
It’s not an argument.
I guess they need to take away my Frost Shock, Flame Shock, Lava Burst, and who knows what else because those schools are taken
Besides which, the fact that Outlaw already draws a hidden pistol kind of makes this discussion pointless
You’re confusing again class specialization against spell schools.
It’s over, man.
