A guild fee is ok as long a the guild provides help and consumables.
If you’re among the ones that just raids and have no profession, no gathering, etc. it’s understandable.
If they rip you off for a seat in the room, just leave

How the heck is your guild spending 500k a month per raider? Consumable prices haven’t gotten anywhere near that bad.
My guild doesn’t ask for any kind of membership fee or anything like that. We have a couple members who go out of their way to keep the guild bank stocked with things like enchants, gems, and consumables and make them freely available to the rest of the guild. We limit how much people can draw per day by that’s mostly just to protect against dishonest people. If you’re using the guild bank like a normal person you won’t hit the limits we set.
Usually the 3 or 4 members we have who go out of their way to keep the bank stocked (bless them) are enough. Though sometimes it isn’t (especially at the start of a season or when the meta consumables change). When that happens, my guildmaster will put out a ping in our Discord channel saying that we need such and such and if anyone with that profession could spend an hour farming it and putting it in the bank that would be great. That’s always enough to solve the problem when it happens. We never ask anyone for gold and the weekly guild challenges keep the guild flush with enough cash to cover all of our needs.

On an unrelated note, you ever use altar of sacrifice in lfr just to see if people use it? A few times it’s been hilarious, you channel it and people start to help, one dies and the raid begins with a spawned demon
