So I have a long thread with tons of responses that sparked another point.
There is no right and wrong way to play this game. There are players who love pet battles, do nothing but alts, known on their server as a top professor as artist, do solo content, or they do the main endgames (raid/m+ or pvp).
The problem is, guilds tour themselves as a AOTC guild but then back pedal and say oh we are just old friends who spend time raiding and if they get the achievement then great. That’s not an aotc guild, that’s a guild of old friends spending 6-8 hours a week together.
This is why the 5 pillars of players exist in every aotc guild. You realize that you can’t do much with 8 people so you recruit. You make these big promises or aotc or some mythic bosses but really u wanna drink with your buddies and wipe on bosses.
Casual aotc guilds are toxic. They either think they are CE Guild or they lie to recruit and implode because their goal isn’t aotc. If your guild goal is to get drunk 6-8 hours a week in the latest raid, don’t dangle a carrot to find carries to make your run easier l.
Dude, you’re trying to force your opinion on how guilds should be run… Annastasi is right, you seen to be on a crusade. How about you create and run a guild your way… ?
If Yes, then they are an AotC guild. They aren’t falsely advertising to say they are an AotC guild if they get AotC through casual play enjoying each other’s company.
Mindsets like this are toxic.
If they thought they were CE, they would be doing Mythic, not Heroic. Try again. And as covered, it’s not lying if they get it.
Or do you go up to people and say they didn’t deserve their PhD/etc. because they didn’t work as hard as others in school?
My guild has been an AOTC guild. With sepulchre though, some of us would gear through mythic plus and others wouldn’t. We never kicked people who couldn’t meet the standard as we were always able to get to the finish line in previous raids while keeping our friends in the raid. Not this go around though, Sepulcher was just too much for us. The better players went to a better guild that could get them over the line, though, that guild went boom too. And the next one I joined stopped raiding and turned social… a lot of guilds going up in flames.
TL;DR Objectives don’t matter jack when reality slams into it. Obviously “reality” here is … not… reality, but you know what I mean.
I would ask, did you join the guild randomly or didn’t they explain the guild organization before you joined? There is a difference most common guild do random joins couldn’t careless ,but raid guilds have applications you have to fill out in order to join unless you know them.
Good lord… If a guild achieves AotC then they’re an AotC guild… It’s that simple.
So long as you’re upfront with your expectations and state that we always try for AotC, but don’t always get it as we like to do this as a team… that is FINE. At that point that’s on the applicants head if they still join expecting more.
Long story short, this is why the application process goes BOTH ways. The guild wants to find people who will mesh with their ranks and aligns with their goals, and the applicant wants the exact same. If your goal is to achieve AotC every single time as well as quickly and efficiently… why in the world are you joining a casual AotC guild? Join a mythic raid team and be a part of their heroic clears.
If you just stated your title and left it at that I’d 100% agree… Then you go and make a horrendous over-generalization like this. No they aren’t. They’re only toxic if they actively lie to applicants about their goals and intentions. And seeing as nearly everything is logged nowadays, it’s incredibly easy to catch someone in such a lie… Just look up their logs and their kill dates… If they got AotC on the last week it was available… Do the math yourself…
What IS toxic however is players like you demanding guilds change from their own aligned goals so as to suit your more progress oriented goal. Not everyone wants that, and I’ve seen multiple guilds disintegrate exactly because of people exactly like you.
new members should read the motd and take the time to read guild charters rather than have a personal expectation of what is to be expected. Just my opinion.
I could have read War and Peace in less time than you’ve taken to skirt around being little more than an elitist nonce. Let me ask you this:
Let’s say a raid tier is 150 days. Let’s compare two guilds: Guild A gets AOTC on day 33. They’re real bangers!! And Guild B gets AOTC on day 149.
And go ahead and fill in Guild B with all those dreaded low-life’s you have now spent TWO threads complaining about. People that learn mechanics slowly. Are just drinking and not trying so hard. The people that “aren’t worthy to raid” as you effectively put it.
And even I will admit I can cherry-pick this scenario to make it work better for my argument, just as you can then change the parameters to make it work better for your argument.
But the end result is undeniable: both groups got AOTC.
Reading between the lines, your only goal in WoW seems to be flexing on “lesser” people than you. Joining other people’s raids and telling them who is worthy/ who to kick, etc.
What a horrible inferiority complex to extoll on others in a game. Can’t you just learn to paint or something?
edit to clarify: maybe there is a fine line between someone genuinely trying to help, and someone just being a bully. After two threads of this topic, you ABSOLUTELY sound like the latter. Your intent doesn’t seem to want to HELP… but to tell people they’re not playing “the right way”, and that they’re not good enough. Go outside more.
We usually toy around in normal for a bit, then go to heroic, and get AotC before the end of the tier.
We don’t yell. We don’t rage. We don’t have any slurs or sexual harassment. We make dad jokes and anatomy jokes. Most of us are LGBT+, or furries, or are enjoyers of the devil’s lettuce.
When not raiding we get keystone master and keystone hero, run old raids for transmog, and just hang out.
I’m seriously trying to figure you out OP. Two topics on this subject, why?
Are you having trouble finding a top guild with a solid raid team you can join, at the end of the expansion? No wonder you’re having difficulty, most are done and taking a break. Not to mention, if they have already done AOTC, their team is solid and there’s not an open seat for you to fill.
And you claim the “bad guilds” are the ones looking for a carry, from you? The casual teams are still going for the achievement because, well their casual.
Or, did you get ripped off trying to buy a carry? Something just feels off…
Well, guilds are run however owners choose to run them be that toxic or not.
I would presume most have a MotD and guild info listed.
Maybe dropping a few thousand gold and crating your own would be the way to go and do things the way you want to instead for trying to advocate actions against others.
