Guild tabards

The customization for these are so outdated. I feel like this isn’t a huge issue by any means but the customization options for these tabards need to be seriously updated.

Would also be cool if we could create our own unique tabards not tied to our guild.

With all the customization talk lately I felt like this was just a little thing that has been overlooked for a while. Thoughts?

Since communities will start being the priority in 9.2.5, it would be nice if they started allowing community tabards/perks

How?

What specifically is outdated?

The graphics? That available designs? The number of available designs? What?

No, it wouldn’t.

Tabards signal being members of a specific group.

Therefore, it would be nonsensical.

Just the options. We’ve had the same colors, borders, and symbols available since like vanilla? Just more of all that.

I don’t think there is any tabard law lol. I don’t see how it’s nonsensical to be able to create our own tabards. At the end of the day it’s all about getting that perfectly matching transmog.

That would actually be sick

Everything. Including the creation window.

Indeed. The guild system is basically 18 years old at this point. The options on offer are incredibly outdated and low-rez. It’s like what you might find from a small indie game, unironically.

Umm…

A tabard (from the French tabarde) was originally a humble outer garment of tunic form, generally without sleeves, worn by peasants, monks and foot-soldiers.

a loose outer garment, sleeveless or with short sleeves, especially one worn by a knight over his armor and usually emblazoned with his arms.

People can be part of their own house and have their own arms to put on a tabard.

This is true it is outdated. There should be more options. Though why don’t the guild NPC’s have their own buildings? They’ve been standing around outside for 17 years… poor souls.

I’d love to see a guild building added to Stormwind and Orgrimmar. Make it look like a recruitment building, representing the various activities that guilds get up to, pvp, raiding, dungeons and leveling or social stuff. Have the aesthetic be quirky and fun, like a dart board with a picture of Anduin on it or goblin TNT sitting next to a fireplace. We could bring back old favorite characters, like Leeroy Jenkins for one of the Stormwind recruiters or Johnny Awesome for the Horde.

Just my thoughts anyways… the whole thing seems kind of unfinished and a fun thematic building would be great.

So it is not actually outdated, just limited.

Well it’s both. The options we have now are super low res. Just needs an all around overhaul. If you go and check it out it’s pretty apparent that they just forgot about it completely lol.

I have to agree. I created a guild the other day for one of my alts (for the storage space), and I was playing with the customize tabard interface, and I was super underwhelmed with it. I couldn’t even zoom in to get a better look at my chosen design. The interface needs a serious upgrade.

lol I just saw a comic this morning and one of the things that stood out was the neat looking cyclops robot had a tabard on. I always liked it when I found miniatures that had tabards or surcoats. Nice way to add color to your character. I’d love it if we got an over hall of the tabard creation system and a way for us to make them for our own characters. Would be another nice little way to personalize your character.

Dragonflight dropped and we need this now more than ever.

I wonder if guild housing will ever be a thing, it’s certainly circulated a lot over the years. I think what garrisons were without the player power is a good starting point on an already implemented system.

and a space for you and only guild members would be a kind of neat. All guild members Can help make buildings for some non player power perks or collection rewards etc. but the downside is people staying in there again and never leaving. I could argue it’s Countered with dragon riding and with no player power connections it would just be another hub to check in on in the world of Warcraft.
