Guild Names?

Just a quick question: When looking for guilds, do you look for names that have a funny and catchy name? An epic name that will make people awe at your name? Or meme names that reference the game community?

Just wanna see the piblic’s response to this open ended question. Thanks!

I’ve always been a fan of the single word Guild name. All top end guilds have just one word.

It used to be that some guilds would have a reputation on the server. You might see server first messages, have run heroics or been a pug in a Raid with them, and want to join based on that rep.

Now, I’m not really sure. I joined a guild when it formed for the green chat, but recently left as I noticed I wasn’t running with any of its members, and didn’t really relate to them in Discord (they all seemed to be younger, maybe late teens, early twenties, with different sorts of hobbies/interests than I have - other than WoW).

In looking for a new guild, I suppose some things I will consider are:

1.) Content focus
Are they focused on content I care about doing?

For example, are they raiding, are they organizing Premade PVP groups for Battlegrounds, or World PVP?

2.) Schedule
Do the days/times fit my schedule?

This can easily be a deal breaker, if not.

3.) History of Accomplishment
Have they completed accomplishments in the past that makes it seem likely they will accomplish things in the future?

This is less of a hard requirement, and more of a consideration, but still a nice-to-have.

4.) Recruitment Requirements & Process
Are there any sort of recruitment requirements or a process?

Oftentimes, prior to content being current, there are very few requirements. Perhaps just being online is enough. Once content starts, then showing up becomes a priority, followed by being able to play your role, then coming prepared, etc.

Sometimes it isn’t clear when joining a guild what sort of behavior they exhibit, what their “guild culture” is like, or whether one would be a good fit.

Again, this isn’t necessarily a hard requirement for me, having a process of some sort, such as hopping into Discord for a chat (if Discord is used, which it probably is), or filling out an application (esp. if there’s a loot council or officers and/or class leads, who may have a level of exceptional knowledge) can help set expectations and expose parts of the guild’s personality to would be newcomers.

Those are mostly the things I look for in a guild. If I am looking at a guild for its name, then it’s unlikely I will have any reason to stay in that guild for any amount of time.

I look for the guild names that exist and then I turn around and walk the other way. Never really been too much a fan of the drama that can occur with guilds, but the real reason I avoid them is that I can’t consistently play at regular dates and times, so I feel like entering into any group I’d be expected to contribute to reliably would add stress to my game experience.
