My WOW Classic guild, Girls Gone Feral, was forced to change to GuildWMQX by Blizz just now and am wondering how it could be that offensive. First off… that name has been around since real vanilla. There are also 17 guilds with that name in retail. I’ve seen worse, more offensive names. I used that name to honor the original guild from way back when. So am I stuck with WXMQX? Comments and advice?
Really? Are you really wondering?
Shouldn’t have been changed. Just remake the guild using the same name.

Submit a ticket, whichever GM changed the name needs to be run outta town.
2019 good lord everyone is offended just to be offended.
Climb the penalty volcano you will.
edit bcuz i use rong word
Am I missing something here? Assuming Greyfox isn’t playing on a RP server, what’s the problem with that guild name? I mean, I wouldn’t join a guild with that name, but why does it demand a forced name change?
I think it’s based on being reported.
I wonder. Personally, I find alt characters offensive (I’ve had my posts removed for saying so), but I certainly don’t find that guild name offensive. I also wouldn’t find Boys Gone Wild offensive.
That doesn’t make sense to me, but I think that anybody can find anything offensive. It’s somewhat puzzling to me who determines what would be offensive in a way that would require a change, other than people have reported it, which could be any reason from they don’t like it, they find it offensive, or any other reason, including they would like to steal it (that happened to me once).
In most cases, a player will receive a warning about the offending name and will be assigned a randomly generated temporary name. A message will be sent to the account’s registered email address with instructions on how to change the temporary name to one of the player’s choosing. In guild name violations, the message will be sent to the guild leader.
In some cases, violating this policy may result in action being taken against a WoW game account.
Also: Names are subject to the same rules established above. Any name the player has the ability to customize—such as player names, BattleTags, and guild names—must be appropriate and inoffensive. Any name that violates our standards or disrupts the community will be changed, and additional limitations may be placed on the offending account per our discretion.
Take note that acceptable names are determined by player reports and Blizzard’s decision, and role-playing servers may have distinct standards for using game-appropriate names.
Apparently multiple people found it offensive.
There is nothing wrong with Girls Gone Feral.
Your guild name is more offensive - a Trap House is a brothel.
Report it, maybe they will change it. Was in that guild for about one minute because I signed some random guys guild charter but it won’t leave my avatar. I wish you luck getting it changed, it will be interesting to see what happens.
Any name could be called offensive. Onslaught is a fierce or destructive attack! I mean, an attack is offensive.
I am pretty sure there is some automation in place, whereby if a name is reported enough that it hits a threshold, it is renamed to something like GuildWMQX, and then flagged for a rename.
That won’t stop you from choosing the same name again, nor it from being reported and flagged again. Though, of course, one may wish to run that by customer service to confirm that the name isn’t deemed inappropriate by Blizzard also.
